My dad is 95. He has been taking Pyridostigmine for his MG for the past 10 years. Recently his doctor told him he can stop taking it.
I was not able to talk to the doctor, but I do not understand why he would tell him this.
He has NOT stopped taking it.
Has anyone else had a doctor tell you to stop taking the medication?

It starts to work in half an hour or so and lasts about 3-4 hours.
If he stops it for a day he will see if he needs it or not. I went into remission and did not need it and was able to quit. It will not hurt to test this as he can always take a pill and know that it will again work. I figure doctors know what they are doing--but always asked why they changed things so I understood.

I would be wary if a doctor told my parent to stop taking it if this was not a SEASONED neurologist. Plus, I would ask why and what would s/he replace the drug with, if they are considering replacing it.
