I went for a visit with my neurologist today and he suggested plasmapheresis. Have anyone receive this kind of therapy or know someone that has? I'm so scared, it sound horrible. I already receive IVIG Treatment 3x's a month but they'll discontinue them if I have the plasmapheresis. I want to feel better but do it really have to come with all of this!
A treatment every other day.
It is ok...the people who did mine was a company that did only that so they probably saw more MG patients than many doctors. You will be ok...sounds nasty but it will be ok. It got easier evry time.

I have 2 bard power ports that they use.

I have a permacath in my chest that they use so there are no needle sticks. My treatments take about 2 hours. I get IV benadryl before my treatments and that makes me sleepy, so I have my husband go with me so he can drive me home. The only problem I have had is that my blood pressure drops lately and they have to give me extra IV fluids and lay my head down. I usually come home and take a nap afterward.
I was really scared at first too. It has helped me a lot though. I have been out of work dealing with MG for the past three months. I have gotten to the place where I will do whatever I have to do to get better.
