Y'all OK?
Been getting some more exercise since we got back from our cruise. Here in Houston, Spring is getting ready to sprung so we have been buisy in the gardens. Pruning shrubs and bushes, putting rocks back into place and so far 30 bags of black mulch spread around the plants. Each bag is 2 square feet and about 50#. Carol and I do 10 bags at a time using the tractor and wagon.
Last year, the Deep freeze, really damaged our camellias and we had few blossoms. This year we have many.
Took the Leaf Bagger of of the tractor and put it away until the fall.
Also doing research on Drip Irrigation Systems for our shrubs and bushes.
I would guess that it takes me about 2 hours to do what I used to get done in a day.
Anyway, we are trying to continue to look forward and be grateful, that I can do what I can do. :-)

We put out two test maple sap taps yesterday as it was 40F. When the temperature goes from below freezing to above in spring, maple trees run sap that is about 3% sugar. Boiling about 30-40 gallons of sap to 1 gallon turns it into syrup. I have been helping with this since I was about 4 years old (at least I thought I was helping).

My son does a lot of the work nowadays with me giving advice and doing some of the work. Maple season ends about the time gardening begins here near the end of April

I was raised in a small Connecticut town called, Litchfield. Seems like I spent most of our springs carrying buckets of sap and boiling it down in a big pot out back. Love maple syrup and sugar. MMMMMMM
