I do a lot. I try to stay focused on the fact that it could be worse and the things that I am still able to do. Stay optimistic. Easier said then done... I know..

Do your symptoms worsen in the winter? Mine do because my Vitamin D levels drop. I also have a low blood calcium problem so it is exacerbated too.

It does seem to get worse when it's cold out. I do need to make sure I'm taking my vitamin D. It does get awfully gray and bleak in Chicago this time of year. :)

Fight on. MG symptoms are treatable. Every one is different, but a combination of mestinon, prednisone, and immuno suppresant drugs will work. Work with your Neuro to find the right combination that works for you. Good luck.

Sorry you are having difficulties. This disease is so variable that sometimes we do well and other times we don't -- even if we stay iwth the same medicine levels.
I mostly just took more mestinon when I was having problems and sometimes more prednisone for a while,
When I was down, I tried to do something special as a reward -- something beyond the routine. My brother did this to get through cancer treatment too. Something to look forward to, although something that is affordable and doable is sometimes hard to think of, but it didn't take much for me -- popcorn and a movie even helped.

Hello. I have been diagnosed with MG for about 8 months. I can certainly identify with you and how you feel. I have never had any other medical issues such as this and then all of a sudden I am stricken with something out of the blue. No reason, no cure. I went through all the stages of grief. At times I was seriously depressed. I could not eat, so I would not eat. I withdrew into my shell. Thankfully, I had a good support group in my family that encouraged me not to accept my condition. The Mestinon, though helpful, brought on terrible side effects. My doctor adjusted my medication (adding Predisone and increasing Immuran). Additionally, he fought the insurance company for IVIG and Plasmapheresis to keep me somewhat normal (and breathing). I tell you this for encouragement: I believe my immune system is now under control after 8 months; I haven't taken Mestinon in more than 2 weeks (none); I have experienced no more difficulty speaking or swallowing. It has been more than 5 weeks since my last IVIG. I still have the disease, but I have reached a point that I can deal with it. Of course, we are all different and no doctor will ever promise you that you will get to where I am. The take away is, though, that there is hope. With the right medication and dosage I was able to return to a somewhat normal life once again. I pray you will as well.

Hi there, I can identify with what you are feeling. I was dx in Sept of 2016 w/ MG. I have been going through the grieving process. I am grieving the outgoing, on the the go person I used to be, to having MG and struggling with the new me, moving much slower, vision problems, muscle cramps, having good days and bad days and taking medications with terrible side effects. Don't get me wrong I have a great support system, but some days I feel alone and hopeless. That why I love Daily Strength. Knowing I'm not alone is encouraging. I'm not sure about you but I have started talking with a therapist to help me with the depression and feelings of grief I am experiencing. I have been off work since August 2016 prior to dx because I had severe symptoms both ocular and general. I was very sick. I feel so fortunate that even though the MG had debilitated my eyes, neck, and the right side of my body (could not walk) I did not have a breathing crisis. I am a spiritual person, however having someone to express my feelings too I find to be helpful. Maybe seeing a therapist would be helpful for you. Good Luck !!
