Myasthenia Gravis Support Group
Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disease leading to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatiguability. The hallmark of myasthenia gravis is muscle weakness that increases during periods of activity and improves after periods of rest. Although myasthenia gravis may affect any voluntary muscle, muscles that control eye and eyelid movement, facial expression, and...
If you eat 3 meals each day at $9 per meal that seems pretty expensive -- or do you just use one or two?
I rather like shopping, cooking and like meat so that wouldn't suit me very well. I also have a garden and get most of my own vegetables and fruits that I grow mostly organically. Just finishing the strawberry season and headed into raspberry season and have new potatoes, lettuce and peas from the NW Wisconsin garden. I have apple and plum trees too.
When I was in the worst of my MG disability, I was still able to do some gardening with lots of mestinon, and found that other folks would do some of my harvest for a share in the produce. As I am retired, I have time to spend in the garden and find it very good exercise as well as relaxation to do a little hoeing and to watch it all grow. I have machines to do the cultivation.
I looked up the Greenchef and it looks pretty high quality food and quite convenient. I think it would be a good choice if I were a less functional and could overcome my conservative spending habits ;-)
Hope it all goes well with the new diet
Good Luck
Russ
Sounds like you have a very nice set up. Home grown fruits and veggies - yum.
We order 4 meals, for two, per week - Dinners only. B-fast and lunch on us. Yes - about $9 per meal each. Is a bit on the spendy side for us. We are considering it a necessary expense for us to learn about other foods and flavors and then , as they say, cut the tether.
We are looking at it as an adventurer - so many new tastes - and will probably stop when we get enough recipes that we like, to go it on our own and save the extra $$$. I believe the cost is in the processing, cutting, measuring, labeling,...
We hope to put in the veggie garden for spring planting, so we can grow some of our own.
For me, I try to get exercise in tending our plantings - mainly flower shrubs and other plants as well as caring for the lawn.
I do have other projects as well, but am having some motivational issues based on the last time I overdid. I do not want to do that again. I think - Fear based inactivity.
I did wrap a post in cedar today and cooked a whole beef tenderloin for my sons, their wives, kids and some other close family members. The beef was delicious. No - we have not cut out all meat. Just a bunch of it.
So grateful for a great day with family. It is wonderful watching them all grow and making decisions.
I sometimes morn for my old self. Would really like to have the DV go away and the fatigue - - - - -
Tomorrow is another day and I must finish building a box for my floor to ceiling pantry pullout. This is the piece that I was working on when I overdid. I will not carry the air compressor this time.
Getting back to the eating plan - We have already realized the value in what we are eating and it will be interesting to see how it turns out. Me being an old Hippie, I recall the back to the earth movement Those were fleeting days after college and before the kids. Growing your own food, making soap, building homes and teaching school. :-)
Guess I've rambled on enough.....
