I'm no IVIG expert (I had my first and hopefully only IVIG last month, and I didn't do well with it at all!), but it's my understanding that your first dose is usually a big loading dose given over 5 days. 2 days sounds very short. Might the quantity of IVIG given have impacted the length of the benefit you got?

Unfortunately, I have been on IVIG every two weeks for over a year. I get some relief and help with symptoms.
Fortunately, I have Medicare and Tricare that covers 100% otherwise, I would not continue....
I have not been able to tolerate any of the immunosuppressants.
My only complaint is blown veins. I am stronger on IVIG. I have no side effects at all now. My first was infused too fast and I got sick to my stomach.
IVIG is usually reserved for when you are in crisis.. hope it still works if I ever have a crisis.

I have been getting IVIG every 8 weeks, and recently every 4 weeks. It usually takes about a week to really kick in. The effect for most people is accumulative, so it lasts longer each time. Mine was starting to wear off after about 4-5 weeks, so my neuro now has me get it every 4 weeks. It makes me a lot stronger and keeps most of my mg symptoms at bay. I still have to be careful to not over due and naps when I'm tired.
I am so lucky my insurance pays for everything except a $75 co-pay. I can't imagine having to pay that much for it. Can MDA or the drug company cover some of the expense?

It took a year for my cellcept and thymectomy to appear beneficial. I only did IVIG once.

I have been doing IVIg since October 2013 and started with every 2 weeks, but am now at every 4 weeks after a thymectomy in February. I'm hopeful I won't need it any longer because I was symptom free before the IVIg the last two times I received it.

I'm lucky in that my insurance covers it 100% otherwise it would be ~$7K / infusion.

For me, when I really needed it, it took 3-5 days to really kick in and star working.

FWIW, I'm still on Mestinon and Prednisone, but working to taper off the Prednisone over the next year.

Working Things Through....

I was officially diagnosed 3 years ago after being undiagnosed for 17 years. I have had three hospital three day stays getting 8 hours of IVIG each day. The cost was much more here. Something like $76,000 but I am 70 and on Medicare and have a good supplement. We could not get Medicare to pay unless I was in the hospital and all I ever got from it was horrible side effects. Hi everyone. I am still alive but lost Dan to lung cancer in a matter of 4 months last summer. I have just shut down. The last you heard of me was stomach problems and having my gall bladder removed and a two year recovery period took care of that. As you know I was on Mestinon and Cellcept. After 18 months of Cellcept was changed to Imuron that I took for 14 months. I am on no auto immune medication now. Have any of you tried cyclosphorine?

Thymectomy-- Too old. Remember Ann I will be 71 this week.
