Have you been to a neurologist regarding this? If not, you should definitely see one and be put on some medication. If you are seeing a neurologist and not on medication after a year, change doctors and be sure to go to a neuromuscular neurologist. I suffered for 4 months with weakness and FINALLY was started on Mestinon after deciding I had symptoms of MG. Then I went on prednisone and it helped almost immediately. I have been on this for a year and still trying to figure out how to get by on the lowest dose possible with the prednisone. It is a work in progress and hard to deal with at times.

I'm on mestinon and prednisone and it always works for me but after this recent flare up it's taking a while to get regulated.

My daddy is 57 ,one day he was at work and he started to fell different. My daddy couldn't remember what he was doing right that second his mind went blank his boss drove him to the er which then he was put into the hospital before he was started to have episodes where his eyes would water ,vision was doubled and etc.Fast forward he would have good day and bad days.Now he is getting weak when he walks,can't hold a cup for long ,speech is hard to understand and the say he has MG.My respond was MG I've never heard of that so I googled it and there it was my dad lives along I stay a hour up the road and my brother states over so how are we gone to help my dad and we have our own family RIGHT NOW DADS IN THE HOSPITAL HIS SUGAR WAS 1140 he is not a diabetic he stared taken the IVIG INFUSIONS last week I DONT KNOW WHERE WE GO FROM HERE????

I've had good luck with mestinon and prednisone. For energy, I find that taking supplements of B-2/Riboflavin a couple of times a week makes a big difference. I'll also take vitamin d supplmenets and occassionally CoQ-10.

during my first year of MG I spent multiple 10 day sessions in the hospital getting plasmapheresis. I was taking mestinon (great laxative) and prednisone (awesome for weight gain) and I'd think I was going into crisis mode. I began to notice a pattern related to my period. About 10 to 7 days prior to starting my MG would flare up. I'd have slurred speech, neck, eyelid, leg weakness and trouble swallowing. Then 3 days into my period and sometimes hospital stay while getting plasmapheresis it would begin to subside. Once I figured out the correlation I would rest more prior to my periods and take a little more mestinon. Some nuero docs say the two are unrelated, but now 3 years down the road for me, it's a pretty consistent theme.

For me, bad days have to do with humidity -- today the dew point was 72! That is terrible for MG. Get out of the heat and wait until it passes over. Also, any additional illness (a tummy bug, a cold) makes the MG 2X worse. Relax relax relax! If you are having trouble sleeping, get your neuro to write an Rx for a good sleeping pill. A night of good sleep can make you feel terrific! ~Joe

I live in the deserts of NM and this past week our dry heat was over 100 every day this week. It completely drains your muscles of any energy, just as it did before the MG, but now with the MG it's worse. Stay indoors and stay cool.

The flip side is that extreme cold is tough too. Your body contracts and the act of shivering uses energy too. Sadly we have to spend our time in weather environments that are not extreme in either direction.

I just went through the same thing, I was in the hospital for a week receiving IVIG after a three week long exacerbation that left me unable to walk more that a few meters or climb stairs at all. I am finally home now and still very weak. The docs say that the ivig could take a few weeks to kick in :(
