Myasthenia Gravis Support Group
Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disease leading to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatiguability. The hallmark of myasthenia gravis is muscle weakness that increases during periods of activity and improves after periods of rest. Although myasthenia gravis may affect any voluntary muscle, muscles that control eye and eyelid movement, facial expression, and...

It's not different than the US Govt warning us with studies for years that "low fat" as the way to go based on "studies" and the saturated fat was bad which it clearly is not and now, they are backing away from that position. The cereal mfg will give you study after study 'proving' that cereal is great for your health (sugar and wheat)... but more studies disprove it.
Studies prove nothing...only seeing what works for you to improve your health is the key since everyone responds differently.

Overall you are very wrong. A well designed study and its results is how science and medicine progresses, its not fast but its how we make the advancements we all benefit from, in the end its hard work and dedication. Are there junk studies out there, junk papers. YES, I pointed out the one you quoted as just that. There is however a good body of peer reviewed literature and studies that the scientific and medical communities use and build the advancement of science on. thats how science and medical research works.
This is also a good reminder how easy it is to do quick google searches and feel that you found valid research, you have to be very careful and look at the sources of those papers and really what was the intention of that paper or study.
WIth that said DM, I have no issue with following a good diet and excercising as tolerated and agreed upon with your care team of doctors. I actually follow a stict diet based on a Mediterranean diet as thats what makes me feel the best. I also avoid sugars and alcohol due to thier aggravating effects on the body and rarely eat out due to the unknown ingredients that are so pervasive in our commercialized food chain.
As mentioned we are all grown ups here and we too pay attention to the literature and talk to our friends and fellow members here on DS, including those who have been able to achieve remission and take up things like running. Your premise that we ignore them is dead wrong, quite the opposite we take strength and encouragement from them.
DM do you mind me asking about your history with MG? When were you diagnosed, what tests did you have and what were the results? What meds have you taken for MG?
Joe
I have no intentions to prove myself to you. It's sad that each forum has a troll that loves to police the group.
Yes, I have MG. Look up my past posts to get familiar w/ me.
At no time have I been more knowledgeable than anyone believe me, I'm the least smartest guy in the room. To my benefit, I seek out the those that have overcome autoimmune disease and MG over several years and connected the dots. Are you saying that I'm not willing to share that with the group?
Are you saying you know what causes MG? Because ppl smarter than all of us have some connections to the cause of MG which is inflammation. Before you come and throw another wet blanket on someone taking supplements or sharing a possible connection, back it up. MG has yet to be solved by science (the cause or cure) so until them...hold off on your policing the group w/ their experiences.
Since you're so concerned about my suggestions of Paleo Autoimmune Diet you should read Robb Wolf's work. And those that are in remission based on the protocol he's shared and check out his bio while you're at it.
And if you're so concerned about Ginger, Tumeric, and Hyperzine A (an acetylcholine esterase inhibitor) ... you should post warning at health food stores (sarcasm).
Credibility problem? You cannot back any opposition to have to what I've posted. Your post serve what purpose to group? Protecting them?

Troll is that what you call someone who stands up to you??? Interesting.
Take care DM, I believe I have made my point.
