Hi everyone, I hope this season finds everyone feeling better than the last one. My Neuro suggested I consider switching from Imuran to Cellcept due to my short term memory being suppressed. Has anyone made the switch? Thanks, in advance for any suggestions, advice, and words of wisdom. Wishing wellness to all of us, Tim

Russ be a bit careful quoting the potential complications with meds like Imuran and Cellcept when used in the setting of Lupus as opposed to patients dealing with MG. What has been found is that the rates and types of complications experienced with those immunosuppressants is linked to the disease that is being treated.

Good info Russ. Very relevant as it applies to side effects.

I have a long-time friend that is a dermatologist. He mentioned he would prescribe me Cellcept and does for many of his lupus patients. He said basically that it is the most safe and one of the best for reducing T cells. I asked him why many doctors still do not prescribe Cellcept and he said they are old school medicine, stubborn, simply set in their ways refusing to keep up to date with modern medicines. Cellcept isn't even new. These were not his exact words, but I think the choice is simple.

i chose Cellcept over Imuran because of the lower cancer risk. I insisted on it with my neuro. I am getting better. at a slow crawl....
