According to my father's neurologist, Imuran is one of those medications where you have to take it a few months for it to build up in your body before it has any noticble effects on the MG. Depending on the person, it could be anywhere between 3-6 months before enough of the drug is present in your body before any results are seen. However despite that it takes a while to have an effect, it is on the flip side long lasting in your body. For example Prednisone you can see the benefits quickly, but then it also wears off quickly so you have to keep taking it. Whereas Imuran it takes a while to see the benefits but it also long lasting and still in your system for a few months even if you stop taking the Imuran. That is how my father's neurologist explained it to me.
Hope that helps!
