Hypothyroidism

After reading so many posts on this site and comparing my symptoms I'm beginning to think I have hypothroidism. (I've seen a name given to this.....starts with an "H" but can't remember the name now. I had blood drawn today to check all my Lipids and also to check my thyroid. I asked for the additional free F4 or something. Not sure when the results will be at my doctor's office. Just curious as to which comes first......MG or hypothyroidism?

MG and hypothyroidism share many of the same symptoms, thyroid disease is usually worse in the morning (especially the eyes) and MG is usually worse at night. Hashimoto's thyroiditis and MG frequently coexist and are both autoimmune diseases. For those reasons many doctors like to get thyroid studies in their MG patients every six months. b.

Mine has always been ocular MG (over 60 yrs) and it is MUCH worse in the morning. Can't hold my eye open. By evening, I'm feeling pretty good and my eye isn't giving me as much trouble as earlymorning.. I don't have any weakness anywhere else but I have a lot of symptoms related to hypothyroidism. Tired and sluggish. No motivation. Somewhat depressed and I've always had a wonderful memory but I've noticed that I've become very confused and forgetful over the last several months. Also, my pulse is very low......consistently staying below 60. Blood pressure is good. No swallowing problems. Am able to work out on my Total Gym with no muscle weakness.

For me, a dx of hypothyroidism came before my MG dx. I suspect it may depend on how & when symptoms present themselves. My MG was not "obvious" until recently.

Thanks Larissa. My MG presented itself about 60 years ago but I'm having a lot of other symptoms that sound more like hypothroidism.

I was also diagnosed with hypothyroidism first. Looking back, I started with the symptoms of MG at about the same time, it just took longer to get diagnosed and the doctor kept thinking the symptoms were from hypothyroidism.

Are you referring the the "H" thyroid disease, Hashimoto's thyroiditis?
It can accompany MG.
I have had hypothyroidism going on 20 years.

Alison had MG and Hashimotos onset simultaneously. They diagnosed her MG while admitted in the hospital for choking/breathing crisis and then screened for other autoimmunes and came up positive for Hashimotos. Definitely a strong relationship.

Looking back I had MG for several years with no diagnosis. Then came the hyperthyroidism and following that was the MG diagnosis eight months later.
