Myasthenia Gravis Support Group
Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disease leading to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatiguability. The hallmark of myasthenia gravis is muscle weakness that increases during periods of activity and improves after periods of rest. Although myasthenia gravis may affect any voluntary muscle, muscles that control eye and eyelid movement, facial expression, and...
"Galantamine crosses the blood brain barrier and concentrates in the brain" says the reference I linked below. Mestinon does not.
I think I would be worried about what would happen if this accumulated in my brain -- MG is not a brain disease, but rather a neuromuscular junction disease.
I don't think I would want to experiment with brain altering chemicals unless my brain were in need of alteration ;-)
It is used for treatment of Azheimers because it goes into the brain and increases the level of Acetylcholine there.
