Myasthenia Gravis Support Group
Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disease leading to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatiguability. The hallmark of myasthenia gravis is muscle weakness that increases during periods of activity and improves after periods of rest. Although myasthenia gravis may affect any voluntary muscle, muscles that control eye and eyelid movement, facial expression, and...
I thought I'd amuse you all with a few anecdotes from my recent admission. It started on admission where the desk clerk wrote my diagnosis down as Mysterious Gravis. How appropriate is that!!! Once I got to the ward things only got funnier. I was in pretty bad respiratory failure and so on 24 hour BIPAP though a nasalmask. First I was mistaken for a demon (I mean how unflattering can you get!) by a 94 year old fellow inmate who went off at me sceeching bible verses in Latin to save herself from me! She was terrified! The poor old duck if she had only realised that I was too weak to even breathe for myself I am sure she would have felt so much better. As it turns out the sight of me in my mask had worked her into such a state that she then proceeded to bite her physician on his hand because she said he was one of my "cohorts!!!" I tell you I have never been so relieved in my life that someone had a broken leg and couldn't get at me!!! All I'm short of is a nip or 2!
We finally got to sleep after all this fiasco only to be awoken at 4.30 the next morning by a shake on the shoulder. I jerked out of deep REM sleep to turn over with my heart thudding and see a tea lady leaping back from me screaming!!! She looked at me with a very wounded expression on her face and told me I had given HER a fright!!! I guess she too thought I was some apparition that had been laying in wait for her to come around with her little tea-trolley in the wee hours of the morning. And what you may all ask have I taken from this experience? Mmmm perhaps I need a new jazzier BIPAP mask!lol!
If you don't laugh sometimes you would cry and laughter is far better medicine!
Have a friday and a weekend full of laughs everyone!
Hugs

I will attempt to tell a joke, but am not sure I can remember it. I guess I'll know when I get to the end.
There were three ladies who died all at the same time. They went to heaven and everywhere they looked there were little ducks!
They asked Saint Peter, why are all these ducks here? Because God loves little ducks, so whatever you do don't step on the ducks.
The first lady lasted one day and stepped on a duck. Poof a man appeared, a very homely man. This is your eternal companion.
The second lady lasted three days and then she too stepped on a duck. Poof, the same thing happened. A very homely man appeared and she was told that he was her eternal companion.
The third lady was not about to end up with any ugly guy like those others. She was sooo careful. After a month went by Saint Peter called her over and Poof! There was the most handsome man she had ever seen, muscles and the just so handsome.
After a few minutes of getting to know each other she asked him, how did they choose you to be with me.....................I stepped on a duck!
My brother said to me on facebook today that he is supprised with his job that he has not lost all of his faculties. It occured to me where mine have gone, and I have noticed them missing. As I passed the sign , they are all in the faculty lounging!!
OLE: "Well, I suppose I can. But, I tell you . . . it will ruin my whole day."
