Hi all I thought hard and long about the flu shot decided not to have it. Then I got the flu. It lasted a month and it knock the crap out of me. I don't know what people think of the flu shot and how it will react with mg but I tell you what I will get the flu shot next year. With that said I feel pretty good down to 20 mags prednisone every other day and it seems to be doing fine. If anyone have has issues with the flu shot please let me know

Sorry to hear you had the flu. With immune suppression, everything hits harder and is harder to get rid of.

My neuro said I should get vaccines -- dead virus ones. She said that they may not work if my immune system is suppressed to much to mount the normal antibody production that occurs after a shot, but even if only part of the antibodies are created it would be better than none. So when I was on prednisone I got vaccines.

Good to hear from you Ken and pleased to hear that things seem to be improving with you and MG. As for not taking the Flu jab - silly you. We can over think such things and having just missed out on a Shingles Jab (because I have MG) needless to say I had a spell of Shingles nearly two years ago - not funny - it's taken me all of 18 months to get back to 'normal'.

Thanks for the information I didn't think that it would matter much if I took the shot but I wasn't sure so . I also started a new medication along with the prednisone the name of it azathioprine and I take 50 Meg's every other day it seems to help the pain in my hips cleared up quite a bit but not all the way it with the prednisone and the AZ I am starting to feel more like myself my neurologist thinks I should knock back 10 mags of the prednisone and 50 mags of the AZ every other day now that the flu is gone I hope to see how well it is working I take nothing for granted I know the mg will do what it wants what the hell

Thanks for the info. Now you know and others hopefully will also. My Dr, gave me no choice in the matter last year, literally, she walked pulled up my sleeve and slammed that shiny little needle in. So this year I knew it wasnt even up to me anymore lol. Sometimes, they need to just do without asking us right. That's why I go to them. Love them. I'm so happy to hear you are better and coming down on the prednisone.

Waste of time to get vaccines when immunosuppressed in my opinion. If you do have one, make sure it is "preservative free" and dead.
