Myasthenia Gravis Support Group
Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disease leading to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatiguability. The hallmark of myasthenia gravis is muscle weakness that increases during periods of activity and improves after periods of rest. Although myasthenia gravis may affect any voluntary muscle, muscles that control eye and eyelid movement, facial expression, and...
I've had problems with sinus infections, seasonal allergies, and gluten allergies ; ALL have wreaked havoc with the MG, but most had an onset that was slow, and not sudden like yours.
I am not a physician, but I'm guessing that your current situation is NOT related to MG. I have never experienced anything like you've described, but am curious if your symptoms could be related to Vertigo.
DS has a good Migraine Headache site (not sure how it is now post-upgrade). Also, write down all of your questions before your appointment with your Neuro (streamline them as best possible), and don't let him/her leave until you get them all answered.
I hope you are feeling better, and please keep us posted !!
Some of the symptoms are similar to Mestinon overdose, or the side effects of a medicine. If you can try to remember if there is anything in particular that you do, eat, drink, or take before an episode, it might help find out if the cause is related to those activities.
Hope you find out what is happening
As a child I had hemiparesis with migraine, it is like a silent migraine with left side paralysis, as if it is a TIA (stroke), and it was so awful. I think I'm having similar symptoms, it feels like a stroke and you have no control over it. I can't wait to see the new doc next week, I'm going into the city to a top hospital. I'm trying not to have expectations but I really just need to know what is happening to me, the unknown is what is so frightening.
I'm trying to keep a journal of what might be triggering it, but the second I feel better I want to FORGET all of it, which is completely unhelpful. I want to pretend I'm a generally healthy mom like all the other moms I hang out with, and have a couple weeks of not paying attention to symptoms. This has been a very ridiculous way to handle it all, because I've put off dealing with this for too long. I think I got so sick of all the symptom stuff and health hell after trying for years to find a diagnosis for the MG, doctor after doctor. I'm scared to death of starting all that over again. I have PTSD from it all.
Thank goodness for you guys, I know you truly understand how down we can all get at times about this stuff. I did the training for my kids with 911 etc, it was awful to have to even do it. UGH, they are 7 and 8 so old enough to handle a 911 call, and old enough to truly understand how bad it is if mommy is on the kitchen floor. The seizure thing I have to find out about. I've had the episodes before and that is exactly what I said to my friend that had to rush over to help with my kids (when they were even younger), I said I felt like I was in a seizure that wouldn't stop.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart, will keep you posted.
:) :) :)
Good Luck
