Can’t believe that you are being advised what to take by way of medicine by the OP. You really should be able to discuss this with your neurologist. By all means, relate what you read on here, but there are some real dangers with what amounts to self-medication.
That said, both Mestinon and Prednisone are fast-acting and therefore yet another reason for you to have your doctor in the loop.
Take care
Peter
As for the meds, I know I try and decrease them as much as I can and then I get these flares, but I am contributing to some of it due to the elbow fracture. Anyway, it is a work in progress and I am going to go see my neurologist, but when I do that, he usually just tells me to increase the prednisone and Mestinon and then start to decrease it and I pay for this with a copay! I am going to see how it goes until the end of the month. I always give myself a month to see how I am doing.
The Mestinon does seem to help. This whole thing is a pain and I hate having to think about it all the time. I am not a person who likes to takes meds and really do not like doctors, especially the way things are now. Medicine is an industry and there is no real care. Oh there may be a few docs out there, but for the most part, they just give you their 15 minutes, charge you and send you out the door.
I suspect that our health system here in the UK is rather more helpful when it comes to communication? I can simply Email my consultant and be sure of an answer within a day, at most, at no cost whatsoever.
Be careful!
