I just got a vortex port placed on 1/22 for plasmapheresis and I was surprised to find it was far less painful than I had anticipated.
Glad your Ivig is working for you.
Usually, they put you in the hospital for your first round, but it's possible to get it done at home.
It's also available subcutaneous that you can do yourself. Unfortunately, Ivig doesn't help me, so I have to do plasmapheresis.
On the very first round I had, I did improve by the third day, but then deteriorated quickly after that.
Hope you continue to feel better each day!
Don't jump into anything. It will be better.

I've only had a few people miss it in all these years. I've also received all my IVIG in that vein, too. I'm left-handed, so I get it in my right hand.
Sometimes these medical people are very proud of their sticking skills -- one guy bragged how he got a line in the vein of a week-old baby earlier that day, and then proceeded to miss my own vein three times before resorting to the "student" vein.
What was worse was being in the hospital after my thymectomy, and getting a blood transfusion, and noticing about a half hour into it that I was developing a big bruise -- the line had come out of the vien and the blood was just filling up my arm. I had a huge multicolored bruise there for a month.
