They are looking at the Thymus. My Doc is great he actual does every thing he says...

Have they started you on any medications as of yet or are they still searching for answers?

Watch your symptoms if the ct scan calls for using an iodine contrast (many do). That stuff can cause mg symptoms to worsen. Many here have had probs w it. Your doc (neuro?) can advise you about it.

also, meant to say if they use the contrast dye it can cause problems. there is info on the group link . I have problems with it where I loose my voice and get weaker.. be sure they are aware that it can/may cause you problems.

Good luck on Thursday! Tricia and Annette are right, iodine contrast can be a problem and it varies from person to person. About 15 minutes after having the contrast I has a big exacerbation of bulbar weakness. I could barely speak. I didn't find out for a couple of months that the contrast was on the list of contraindicated medications.

I'm so glad you have a neuro who does what they say they are going to do.

Wow, wow, wow! I can't believe this disucssion, as I had a scan on Monday on my Thymus! My instructions were to stop taking anything to eat or drink two hours prior to the procedure. I assumed it so that I would be clear, and that they would be giving me the contrast IV, but they did not. After reading this discussion group, only now I can understand why. So glad that I was referrred to Shands in Gainesville, as apparently they know what they are doing.

Everyone is different on whether or not you have reactions to the contrast. I have CT scans every 3-4 months with contrast and have no reaction.
It is important to tell the tech that you have or are suspected to have MG.

Mine did not show anything but ironically the heat in the CT room was starting up a myasthenic flare up. They were good and opened 6 windows for me and took 30 minutes checking up about the contrast
(I only felt the warm tingling sensation just after it was injected)

Thank to all for the info on Iodine, I will let them know. I kinda have a big mouth ..lol I dont think they will tell me me tomarrow , my Doc said to come in on the 4th of September to have a little pow wow.. Currently the meds im taking is for MG and Diabetes.. Mestinon and Predisone for MG . Diabetes , Metformin and Levothyroxine for high thyroid.
