Myasthenia Gravis Support Group
Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disease leading to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatiguability. The hallmark of myasthenia gravis is muscle weakness that increases during periods of activity and improves after periods of rest. Although myasthenia gravis may affect any voluntary muscle, muscles that control eye and eyelid movement, facial expression, and...
I'm sorry things have been so rough for you. That's way way too much time in the hospital. I hope someone here can give you some insight on different causes of flare up.
Keep us posted.

When I was still symptomatic daily I had a real craving for apple juice, it tasted so good. I started to have problems with vision and my legs going out; did some research and found out that fluoride and pesticides are bad for us. Most of your fruit juices have fluoride so we bought a juicer. Apples, if not organic, are one of our most pesticide laden fruits.
I hope you feel better and find some peace today, Kim

So, is anemia a common problem for myasthenics?
Ange
Extreme fatigue
Pale skin
Weakness
Shortness of breath
Headache
Dizziness or lightheadedness
Cold hands and feet
Irritability
Inflammation or soreness of your tongue
Increased likelihood of infections
Brittle nails
Irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia)
Unusual cravings for non-nutritive substances, such as ice, dirt or pure starch
Poor appetite, especially in infants and children with iron deficiency anemia
Restless legs syndrome an uncomfortable tingling or crawling feeling in your legs
These were from the Mayo Clinic website. You also lose your hair evenly and some have bleeding gums. The ridges in your nails (if any) run vertically. You know, Ange, I always think that my symptoms are one of my many dx's or a side effect of med's. How the heck are we supposed to know? Then people tell you to call the doc, which one? I've got too many specialists on the payroll and if you call the wrong one, they get upset. I don't call, just keep appointments. They want to diagnose me with something else and I can't take the med's for treatment so, what's the point? Statistically speaking, I cannot have as many dx's as I do now. It is just too unreal. Sorry, got a little sidetracked venting.
The fatigue with the iron deficiency is a lot worse than the MG fatigue. One thing I noticed was that I was either barfing or shaking from lack of food. You really don't want to eat when you are severely deficient. So, when I would eat something it was the worst thing possible because I needed the most calories. Even tried the Ensure, but vomited. My body does not like that stuff.
Ange, have you had your other vitamin levels checked? Thinking outloud, but I do have other suspicions about the deficiency. Malabsorption for one. Seems like that may be something I have to batttle all my life. What's new? lol Wish you all the very best, Kim
Kim, I'm so sorry to hear about the blood cancer. I love your attitude though, they really can't tell you you only have ten years, I mean seriously....10 years!? A lot can happen in 10 years and you have the right attitude.

Yip Cathi I know exactly what you mean about all these new probs cropping up. Also once they do they are never properly accounted for and I find myself analysing and getting horribly frustrated because nothing seems to ever fit perfectly in the box. Know what I mean?
I am so sorry about the blood cancer and also to hear that you too have had to go through the trauma of doctors telling you you have such a shortened life expectancy.
I'm delighted to hear that you are not taking them to heart! No one but God knows when our time will run out and these doctors who feel it's helpful to say such unproductive things to patients should be shot! It's not ok to take away a persons hope ever!!! I was told 10 years ago that I had about 3 months left to live. Well shows how wrong doctors can be hey. Just recently my vascular surgeon told me out of the blue that I should start doing all the things I want to do before I die. What a shock, so I really understand ur trauma and the work you must have done to get back to that positive place you are at now and to focus on living instead of dying! Good for you!!!
Anyway guys I am very grateful that we at least have a forum where we can share, advise and support. With our positive attitudes and perseverence we will get there!
Hugs
Ange
