I have had MG for 9 years and everything has gone reasonably well for me until recently. I am being treated with immunosuppressant drugs and have received the 2 Pfizer Covid vaccine doses 2 months ago. I recently had a Covid antibody test and have been told that I did not generate any antibodies. It is as if I was never vaccinated. I wonder if there are other people that are having this experience or do not even know to get tested. They could be living with a false sense of security as I was. Can you help point me in the right direction so I can get in touch with similar MG folks? Thank you in advance.

Hi RussellLeeB. Since loads of people are on immunosuppressants for various autoimmune diseases as well as cancer, it's heartening to know that research is being done on the effects of immunosuppressants on the effectiveness of the Covid vaccines. It's possible that we will be administered a booster shot. Since my MG treatment currently consists of Plex, methotrexate, and prednisone, it is doubtful that I have many, if any, antibodies, I am curious about how much protection T-cell memory affords and whether it also is affected by immunosuppressants and treatments such as Plex and IVIG. Guidance for us should be coming soon. In the meantime, I am being careful -- wearing a mask and trying to maintain social distance.

Sorry to hear about your antibody test came back like that. I am on cellcept and prednisone and recently on high dose of prednisone because of exacerbation and I did have antibodies so I was happy about that.

I just wish I didn't attribute my exacerbation to the vaccine. It puts me in with the group who are hesitant and now I am afraid to get the third shot.

Got my third Modena vaccine yesterday. Just a sore spot on my arm at the injection point.

i had extreme fatuihue so severe which lasted for 4 months, due to my others inmune problems, after extensive conversations with my neuro, endo and hematologist, the conclution was due to the closeness of the 2 vaccines, that my inmune system whent trhu the roof.

THAT WILL NOT DETTERE ME FROM GeTTING MY 3RD, SHOT, WHICH i ll be taking it in october,

please to every doughter and all, dont let misinformation try to neglect facts. if they like to die so be it, but do not subject other people and childrens to your stupiditie, science is very specific on the subject if you lowe your parents , childrens , friends , and care about others, you will put all aside and do the right thing

I will not be getting the COVID vaccine, or any other, until my MG is cured. The last one I had caused a serious exacerbation. I couldn't swallow for a week. A COVID shot at the current time would likely put me in a crisis situation, OR have zero effect because of the level of prednisone I'm on.

I worry that some of us on immune suppressants are getting a false sense of security from the vaccine. What a lot of people really need are titers to determine if they have COVID antibodies after receiving the shot.
