cellcept tablets vs capsules

I know this is probably totally silly...but I have to ask! I have only been on cellcept for a little more than 3 wks. I was taking the capsules - ramped up to 1gm twice a day. On Thursday I picked up a perscription for more and got tablets instead of capsules. I started the tablets on Thurs night and started feeling really crappy fri late morning and still feel badly. I feel achy all over - feverish - kind of have flu-like symptoms. I don't really feel sick and was wondering if anyone has experienced this? or preferes capsules to tablets or vice versa? I'm sure it doesn't matter...and I am probably just sick...but I had to ask!!! Thank you guys for any info!!!!

I loathe when they change my medication, even if it is the same but looks different. I have only taken the tablets so I can't comment on capsules but I was very nauseated once my dose reached 1000mg twice daily. Never any aching, fever seems to be a part of my life now but has been since long before starting cellcept. Sounds like it's time to call the neuro. The pharmacist may be able to help you too. Did the change to 1000mg coincide with the change to capsules?

Interesting. I can tell you the cellcept oral suspension(liquid) contains aspartame(for one thing), but you will notice the ingredients are different per capsule, tablet and suspension. I take the capsules, and I have always taken the name brand. I received some of the generics by accident and didn't want to take them, but I would have if other arrangements were not made possible. Another possibility is if you taking anything else like birth control or anything else that could react with your cellcept tablets that did not react to the capsule. Either way, it had only been three weeks, which isn't enough time to start working for you regardless. You got me researching. Look at this interesting breakdown for each type:

Why did they give you tablets instead of capsules. Call them, tell them it made you sick and switch you back.
and don't take no for an answer.
Apparently lots of that stuff has filler in them and they might very well be making you sick.
I had to take liquid for a long time. Now I am on capsules.
When I was on liquid one time they didn't put the water in it(per directions to pharmasist) I called and they told me how to do it. I called them back, said that wasn't my job. When they asked me to bring it in, I clarified it wasn't my error and requested they fix their error by coming to my home.
They did.
We deal with enough..... we need to get what we need.

Thank you guys! You are awesome! I called the neuro and he said some people do prefer (because of side effects) one or the other....so back to the capsules for me! and Ann - you are very funny!! TJ - thx for the research...there certainly are lots of different additives in these things!
Thank you and yes...I still have a long wait to go for the cellcept to work it's magic if it will!

I have been taking the tablets for two months now. Went through the flu like symptom thing but feel it was the failed IVIG. I take 2000mg a day. Sure hope that isn't a deterent for me. I see my Neurologist on Wednesday and will surely discuss this with him. Thanks for bringing it to the attention of those of us who take cellceph.

I actually have not had any side effects from the cellceph. No fever, nausea, always took the same brand and dosage was slowly moved up. My flu like symptoms were caused by a failed IVIG.
