Prednisone at 60mg/day could take 6 months for maximum effect depending on your weight, although it should gradually begin to work earlier.
One reasonably clear discussion of the treatments and timelines is from this website.

The usual prescribed prednisone dose (after ramping up a few weeks to make sure you don't have an exacerbation with the start) is usually give as 1 mg/kg (your weight). So a 60mg would be standard for 60kg person (132 lbs)
I took 60mg (I weighed 100 kg) tapering up gradually from 20 and 6 months later was free of most MG symptoms and beginning to taper it back off. My doctor tapered me up somewhat slowly as she was worried I would get type 2 diabetes -- I didn't.
Good Luck and be patient
Another question I have about these two meds is in regards to sweating....... I mean seriously sweating while on them. Since starting them, I sweat like crazy! Is this something that anyone can relate to? :)
Good Luck
I would imagine the sweating is from the mestinon, considering you are taking it all day also.
Hang in there!
Hang in there and give it some time but I will still call your neuro and make sure that you are progressing as your doctor intends you to.
Good luck!
