I thought the Z pack was a no no for us.

I don't think they will tell you to go home when you tell them you have mg.
You need to go to er
I had pneumonia and it was so bad I can't even remember it.
I was in ICU
Go go go to er
When you arrive you need to say you have mg and feeling breathing problem.
I think I can promise they won't send you home.

Oh dear that doesnt sound so good..If not a bit better , as much as you dont want to, go to er or at least maybe one of those 24hr emergency clinics and make sure its isnt pneumonia....Dont wanna fool around with the breathing thing....I know its hard cause with MG hard to take to many things to help it....My only suggestion for the chest part would be Vicks..Put some in water and let it boil a bit and put towel over your head and stand over pot and breathe in...Used to work great for me.....Sounds funny but does....I think Vicks ok for MG right?? Sorry couldnt help more but sure hope you feel better very soon...Ps What is a Z Pac? I never heard of that??! Take care

Whichever of these lists you find most helpful, keep with you. It is especially important to have when visiting the doctor, and all your regular physicians need a copy for your chart. There is a phone app that is available available through the MGFA that covers more than just contraindicated medications.

Please get in touch with your neurologist and find more appropriate medication and treatment. Most infections this time of year are viral, will not respond to antibiotics, and antibiotic treatment will make it harder for you to recover. Although some MGers on line have been able to take z pac, it is one of the worst offenders.

I am so sorry you are experiencing this. My last cold scared me into eventually getting diagnosed by someone who was willing to give me medication for my MG. Please let us know how you are doing, and if you have to go to the ER, take one of these lists with you. b.

Z pac contains azithromycin, one of the macrolide antibiotics (one of the erythromycins )

Please, please, please go to the ER. Better to be sent home than not go and things get worse quickly, as it can with MG and you end up intubated and in ICU like I did. And yes, Z-PAC is not recommended for us MGers.

You are all wonderful. I thought I was going to run to grocery store, it's not far from hm, when I got there I didn't have the energy to go in, I just sat in my car. I just went home, I guess I didn't need anything that bad. Crashed as soon as I walked in the door. My husband will return tonight I will go to ER then. Thank you all for your support and wise words. This SUCKS!

Z pack contraindicated in MG!! Most Doctors do no know this. My doctors were giving it to me until one of them found it on internet that we should never take it..
I think we need to check each thing ourselves> We need to be our own best advocate.

Ok all don't yell at me. I didn't go it the ER. I couldn't muster the energy to go. But I did go to the dr today. I have a severe case of strep throat on too of bronchitis. She started me on prednisone and a bunch of other meds. So I am praying I'm on the mend now. Thanks again for your advise. I love this group!!

About 14 months ago I had a very similar dx in my lungs and wasn't able to go to my normal Physician and to make a long story longer was given Levaquin which is a definite no no for us mgers . There is a black box warning that specifically says not to be administered in any capacity to patients that have Mg.

I gotta tell you this really got my Irish up that it was given to me and the only way I found out is that my wife goggled Levaquin and discovered. Bottom line is that we have to be our own advocate and never let your guard down..Cj

I am glad you at least went to your doctor. Just keep an eye out once you are off the Prednisone. The doctors played the Bronchitis diagnosis with me for a few months. Every time I weaned off the Pred. my symptoms came back until I was so bad I was taken from work by ambulance to the ER. That is when I was diagnosed with MG. MG and not Bronchitis had been my problem all along. I don't mean to scare you just be careful just be careful.
