I am not a golfer but I can see how MG would affect your swing. I have a boat and fish and as the day goes on my reflexes wane along with leg muscles and whatever else the MG feels like knocking off. I try not to get too frustrated with it all as it does no good. Just enjoy the time I do get to be out there. Taking a little more Mestinon seems to help, just don't over do it.

I think it gives new meaning to getting Tee'd off. I notice that my drives are not as long as they usually are. I definitely don't have the stamina to walk the entire course like I used to. Not even 9 holes. I haven't noticed that my swing is less coordinated (not that it was a thing of beauty to begin with), but I am definitely less coordinated doing other things.

As a therapist I can say that muscle strength is a component of coordination. How balanced the muscles are in relation to each other also makes a difference. If one of the muscles in a movement pattern is weak the body tends to use what are called compensatory motions. These often involved relying more heavily on muscles that are stronger but not usually part of the pattern, so then the motion can be "off". While it can work in many tasks, in golf it could throw off your game.

Before Mestinon, I was having trouble deciding which ball to play: The double vision added a whole new dimension to the game!

I would like to add that if you believe in what you are doing, it can go a long way. Try not to remember you have MG while playing, if possible. This disease can have a lot to do with what is in our heads. I would also suggest you go down to nine holes and see how it goes. It took me awhile to be able to play basketball. I play my best when I forget MG and just have fun.

Yep, Im a golfer also. With MG I still manage to play a few times a week. Other than distance I havent noticed MG affecting me like it has you. It has knocked my handicap down from a 4 to a now a 9. I had got to high as a 13 handicap this past winter when I was having a hard time with the weakness and restricted movement. Also I used to walk about 90% of my rounds to where now I ride a golf cart all of the time. I live in Virginia so we get pretty hot summers with the heat and humidity so riding helps keeps the symptoms down. Good luck on your golf game!

I've really been fortunate: The symptoms are mainly ocular, did experience difficulty swallowing solids, but increasing Mestinon to 60-60-30 has helped that. I haven't experienced generalized muscular weakness, and 18 holes doesn't tire me (my luck - cart paths only, and I drive the ball to the opposite sides of most of the holes).

Golf is definitely 95% mental, no doubt! I don't feel any different, don't think about the MG, but there's the occasional 10 yard drive...very frustrating.

Yeah, the great part about double vision is that you have the possibility of making two holes-in-one with one stroke.

had to learn to slow my play down a bit. mid to high eighties, cant do two rounds back to back, but maybe with a two day rest, i have golfed since 1964, when i hit the lotto with myasthnia (sic joke) i was a day away from dying. that was two years ago, doing much better now,so will you.....
