Myasthenia Gravis Support Group
Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disease leading to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatiguability. The hallmark of myasthenia gravis is muscle weakness that increases during periods of activity and improves after periods of rest. Your mestonin dose isn't very high, either. Re-post another question in this group asking people what doses they take. You'll find that its all over the map. I take at LEAST one, 120 mg. time release mestonin, PLUS 3 to 4 x 60 mg tabs. It absolutely helps me with my droopy eye if I take enough.
Hang in there. It takes awhile to find YOUR best treatments, because everyone seems to respond so differently.
GOOD LUCK
I took 60 to 90 every 4 hours.
Mestinon. Can be taken as needed. Not like the other drugs we take.
Two things I've learned over the past half year is to find a neurologist who has knowledge and experience with MG, and if your MG symptoms are troubling call your doctor and tell him/her what you're experiencing.
Hope you find some relief, Bob
I will increase my mestinon to 60mg 4X a day. If that doesn't help lift the eye lid, I'll put it up to 90mg and see what happens.
My first neuro told me I could take up to eight 60mg tablets a day. I tried that when I was first diagnosed, but the side effect were terrible. I spent most of my day in the "John".
This time I'll try to control the side effects with some diarrhea tablets. I just thought cellcept might be a sure cure for the droopy eye lid.
Last fall I saw an eye surgeon about tacking up my eye lid, but she said, I should wait until the Myasthenia became more stable. I didn't think Myasthenia ever became stable.
Thanks again for the advice on increasing my mestinon. The wealth of experience on this website is priceless.
