Well, I am in the hospital again. Four times in eight weeks. Like Joe, I came in Memorial Day. I spent 24 hours in the ER because they didn't have any rooms. Now I'm up on the neuro floor. I thought I'd be going home today, after a round of IVIG, but then the doc came in this morning and said that the surgeon was going to see me and I might have a thymectomy during this stay! Either that or go home today, she wasn't sure. Now it's almost 5pm, so I'm pretty sure I'm here for another day, which wouldn't be too bad, but tomorrow is my birthday...
I had wanted the thymectomy, but 6 weeks ago my neuro said I wasn't a candidate for it. As of now, it's goimg to be within a few weeks!
I'm excited, but nervous. I have to do something though, I can't be in the hospital like this all the time. Hopefully the thymectomy works for me. I was glad to read the posts on how to prepare, thank you for those : )
I'd gladly take any advice on how to deal with any of it...it's all wearing me out..

So sorry you are dealing with this. Hope they get you fixed up soon. I know how not fun it is to be in and out so many times in a row. Last year in our small hospital I was on a first name basis with nearly every employee there. Get better soon!

Wow sure hope you feel better and can get outta there for your BDAY!! Sorry you are going thru all this..Hope you can get thymectomy soon and get back on the uphill slide... We have all been there and know how you feel believe me..Some days I say how can I get up and do this again..But you do and just keep going..As CJ here always says never give up!! We are all here for ya...I know how much this site and the people on it have helped me get thru!!! Good Luck Hugs

I know how you feel. I recently spent at least 2 1/2 weeks of each month in the hospital. This lasted about three months. The last month I spent more than three months in the hospital. My MG was under control but I had a port get infected and the infection wouldn't go away. As far as the thymectomy goes I didn't have much notice either, but that was a blessing. I didn't have time to stress myself out. I was already in the hospital. It was a Thursday I think. They told me they wanted to do the surgery. They sent me home Friday then they readmitted me on Monday for three more doses of IVIG and then did the surgery on Thursday. I was home by Sunday. The thymectomy went well and I haven't had any problems that applied to the surgery since. I hope all goes well with you and Happy Birthday a little early.

Happy early Birthday and hope you get out soon . I'm a big promoter of the thymectomy as It has been very beneficial to me in longer remissions and a lot lower dosages on the meds. Good luck it the thymectomy is scheduled and either way get home soon and get better.

I hope you feel better soon. Having surgery is stressful but try not to worry about it. I had my surgery transsternal and it wasn't too bad.

I'm home! The thymectomy will be next Thursday! My husband had left and driven the hour to go home and had to turn around and pick me up, but everyone was so happy, it made me feel so good! (We have 5 kiddos at home now)
Thank you for your encouragement. I've fought to get the thymectomy, but now that it's coming, it's a little scary. It's true that not having a lot of time is good, I have enough to prepare, but not to worry too much. I'm hopeful that it will help, and am encouraged by everyone here who has had it and has had benefit from it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! What a treat to get to spend it with your family instead of in the hospital. So glad you are getting the thymectomy and hope you have great results. Mine resulted in a 20+ yr. remission which was wonderful!

happy (belated) birthday :) so glad you'll be able to get the thymectomy after all, wishing you all the best! i can't even fathom how you can take care of five kiddos while having MG that is this severe - seriously, even with the best husband in the world, how does that work?? :) hoping the thymectomy helps - let us know how it goes!
