We spoke to the neuro and she said the xbox doesn't hurt his eyes. Odd to me because my normal eyes go a little crazy watching the screen. Idk - I'm no doctor.

I asked my opthalmologist about using the computer, iPad, nook, TV, etc. I specifically wanted to know if using my eyes so much would make my eyesight worse. I told him that since my MG dx I use those devices for most of the day. His answer was no it will not make your eyesight worse or hurt your eyes. And yes, he is familiar with MG and knows I have it. Obviously the more we use any muscle, eye muscles or otherwise, the muscle gets tired/weak and we need to rest it, but the amount of rest to use ratio is probably different for all of us. I would agree with the doctor, using the X-box is not going to make his eyesight worse overall, just temporarily worse when his eyes get too weak/tired and then just rest them for however long works for him. Sorry he is having to cope with all of this at such an early age. Watch for signs of depression and if he gets depressed get him help asap. A positive attitude does wonders for our physical, mental and spiritual health. Help him find what makes him happy and holds his interest. I believe he will get better once treatment kicks in. My heart goes out to you. It is heartbreaking when our children are hurting, but I am sure as you focus on your son getting better there will be brighter days ahead.

His attitude is great. He is my hero. He has been through so much in the past five months, yet wakes up every day and carries on the best he can. He has much faith in his doctor's words - "I will fix you and I don't lie." I do keep a close eye on his mental state since I'm such a wreck, but I have to say he is handling it all in stride and does what his doctor says and makes the best of each day. I just pray he is better when school starts up again.

Day one of treatment went smoothly.
No side effects. Thanks for all the tips. Today's IV failed so they had to start again so it will be a longer day. He's so brave and stronger than I ever would have imagined. What a great kid I have...with an awful disease. :(

Well, my son survived eight plasmapheresis treatments and five IVIGs within the last three weeks. Did very well with no side effects. Thanks for all of your tips and support. This is hard on us parents and this group helps me through. Thanks so much and best wishes for continued improvement in your journey.

So glad to hear man is doing better. Thank God. At my worst, i was pretty hard to deal with so I can only imagine how it is as a parent. I am glad to hear things are on an upswing!!
