3 in the morning

I got my ivig treatment today & cane home with a slight headache I took excedrin it usually helps but not today. & my muscles are aching and it's keeping me up. I wish I can just get some shut eye so I won't feel the aches. :(

Are you getting NS (saline hydration) fluid with your IVIG? My Doctor prescribes a bag for me (half before and half after) this really seems to help with the side effects.
I have never taken exedrin for my IVIG headaches, but a tylenol PM (has tylenol and benedryl in it) works well enough for me... and I sleep well.

Camy, I hope you are feeling better today. There are lots of variations on treating the after-ivig side effects. Personally I hydrate well, take tylenol, benadryl and a bag of decadron before treatment and a small burst of prednisone three days after treatment as the headache usually hits me on day 4 after ivig. The body aches for me are generally just the first day, I am lucky.

If your headache is accompanied by fever and a stiff neck call your neuro until you get an answer or go to the ER and make sure they know you had ivig and may have aseptic meningitis. A medrol dosepak is usually enough to take care of this problem but you don't want to let it go.

There are also manufacturers of the IVIG and that can play a role on having greater side effects etc. Some brands have a 75 precent chance of getting a headache. Some lower than 8 percent.
