That's one of my issues also. 1 year ago I prided myself with having great handwriting. But, for the last few years it looks like chicken scratch. It's one of the reasons I left teaching. I hardly write anymore. When available I type on cell or iPad. There are even Times I don't know what I wrote. I have gone to IT for finger stregning exercises. I have a pack of hand/finger weights at home.

Until I lost my writing ability, I didn't realize how much I wrote each day.

I had a period of about two weeks when my writing was indecipherable, even to me, but the problem thankfully passed.

I use to have really nice penmanship, but now days I have difficult holding holding a pen properly to write much. I have my wife fill out all of those insurance forms with those little blocks, I just can do them.

My profession is as a Technical Writer. Now I am frightened if anyone looks at my handwriting. MS has done a real number to my hands. 99% of work is done by typing but that 1% is scaring me.

Me, too. The times when I can't even read my own writing -- can't decipher it, and can't remember what I wrote -- are really unnerving.
One of my related problems is, I have diminshed sensation/poor feedback in my hands, so I actually hold pens too tight. I've even snapped pencils in half when I was writing, because I didn't realize how hard I was holding them!
I've recently switched to the old-style Flair felt-tip pens for a lot of writing -- I press down (without realizing) so hard on those uni-ball or gel tips that I ruin them. I also find putting on one of those plastic or foam rubber grips -- like they use with elementary school kids -- helps. I imagine it would help folks whose grip is weak as well as for those whose grip is too strong.

I did have a phase of this writing phenomenon too but it passed. I was putting a lot of pressure on myself and as a result, my hands would clench up seriously making it real difficult for me to write anything that didn't look like a kindergartner had born down on one of those huge pencils. It did pass though. I do need to be comfortable when I write. That's key for me.

I stopped writing in long hand years ago. Printing is easier and more legible. Depends on the day how easy and how clear it is.

Yes, my cursive is horrible. I have to sign my name to legal documents a lot for my job and have trouble even doing that. It takes me great patience and concentration to sign my name in cursive anymore. As far as writing other things in general my handwriting sucks. It use to be very good, and very straight. Now I experience trouble with letters like "u", "r", "b" and "a". The more difficult letters of the alphabet to write. It's not so much that my handwriting looks like a pre-schooler as it is just plain sloppy and ineligible. This has gotten worse with my MS.

That's actually how I got dx'd. Right hand went out and so did writing, shaving, and brushing my teeth...the first round of prednisone helped immediately but my handwriting and shaving ability just returned about three weeks ago. Took almost 5 months but it's so much better now.
