It's the same here! You have to jump through a lotta hoops! Not easy when you can barely walk! My husband makes too much for us to be on Medicaid.

Have you had your first interview with nasty person on the other side of the desk yet or are getting ready to apply? You can't trust the figures on the website. They don't don't tell you about the hidden factors.
Do you recieve any assitance for energy bills. Do you live alone? How much is rent , insurance, etc...etc... All of these can raise or lower your income.
Quich scenerio. 4 years ago I applied with my husband for medicaid and was turned down. We made $860 a month. Thats it!! Said that I was not qulified because I had an open case with Social security and would have to wait for them to make the determination as to wether I was qualified for Medicaid. We did get food stamps however.
We also appplied for rental asssitance. Well apparrently you need to apply for that 1 year in advance at minimal. No funds are available after January 31st.
Not long after we were served an eviction. So we returned (and you'll love this one!) and asked for emergency assistance for housing. We were turned down because we make too much money. We had to make less then (Ready?) $70 a month!
Don't mean to put a damper on it but you're gonna agravated and you're symptoms will just get worse. Better off prepared.

Yes I'm sure.No more $70 a month to quallify for emergency housing. That has probably changed but not by much I'm sure. Nj is tough. I'm not aware of the state systems of other states. Nj is unreal though.
There is a man who was accused of killing 4 prostitutes outside of Atlantic city a few years back. He was never charged officially In fact he was cleared. But he charged with endangerment of a minor and child pornography. because the found videos of his step daughter when searching the house.
Get ready!! He was given emergency assistance for housing. This included the rent and security deposite. $1000 to furnish it. X amont of food stamps. Medicaid. rental assistance. And a small cash allowance. Also energy assistance. This was given to him as repayment from the state for falsly accusing him. He claims he can no longer work because of the label given to him since the incident in AC and that he mentally unable to hold down a job because of the trauma caused by it. Never mind the underage girl he secretly filmed in the shower, bathroom, etc.. Look it up. Not sure how many years ago now. Why is he being taken care of? He certainly didn't take care of that little girl!
Now comes along the people with real dissablilities real job loss and poverty and are denied. Becuase our fundings are used inappropriately.
Been fighting this system for too many years. I know what it is here.

There are numerous programs you can apply for in NJ. Your income can determine most of them. When you go there ask about SQLMB. It won't cover your medical I don't think but it does cover some copays and perscriptions. Also Core care. It coves perscription costs. It's a state run program but I'm not sure if it is part of SQLMB.
There are also places like Hope mobile, philabundance, etc...They wil help with food.
There is a place called Tri-county up there some where. Call them. They will set you up with energy assistance. There are 3 different ones. You can collect on all three.
I think Core care has menical buildings also. I'll find out.
Comfort partners is state I think. They help with energy effeciency. Theyll examine your home and replace appliances, windows, insulation etc....when needed. Feel free to contact me and I'll help you research whats available in Newark as well.

If you get denied first thing I would do is write your district state rep,the senator than the Gov. My state Senator helped me with social security.

But I live in MI and I'll tell what they did to me. I lost my job applied for food, mortgage, medicaid and utilities, I got help with food and utilities than got medicad. I than got $360/week unemployment. There were 3 of us 1 a minor.$1000 /mo house payment. Soon as I got unemployment they took everything away including the $450/mo food.

They knew I applied for SSD and so they made me apply for state disability. I had to bring a copy of all my medical records to DHS. Never got state disability which was 350/mo. The case worker lost my records and wanted another copy. I also had to give them proof of income for our kid who was working 12-16 hours week

One year goes by no benefits and I get a letter to come met the person who goes through your records and verifaction of any money.and if I did'nt come they were going to prosecuters office to file charges against me. Well not having a clue to what was going on I went to my appointment and met with the lady.

She informs me that I'm being charged with intentional welfare fraud, I was dumbfounded because I did everything they asked and not what was going on I did'nt bring any paper work.

She told me I was being charged with the fraud because I did'nt turn in kids income. I gave them to the caseworker who lost my medical file. She said that I had to agree to pay back $1000 or she would turn over the charges to pros. attorney. I am there because I have no money how was I going to afford a lawyer. here is yhe kick in the ass I was entitled to the food help even with what the kid was making. I WAS ENTITLED TO THE FOOD HELP.

I told her that they lost my medical file and also the statement from where she was working and was told my word against their word. Well having no money to fight I was forced to sign a payback agreement and to make me feel better no intrest and whatever I could afford. Now I have welfare fraud charges on my file for life.

Personally I think it was because I appealed them taking away our medicaid. Last month I get a letter that the state was getting sued because of them taking people off medicad when they should of had it. I found out that as long as I was applying for soc. sec. I was eligable for medicad. Ain't that just great seeing as I got sued by my heart doc for the bill they did'nt pay and now have a judgement against me. So what ever you do make copies and make your caseworker at least initial them. Well good luck with your system cause ours sucks.

OMG!!!! Have you tried to resubmit the bills to medcaid? It's long shot but because they have admitted fault it might work.

I sent the paperwork back in but that judgement will remain for the 6 or7 years for this state. You know I'm glad that people can get medicaid but in this state if you have a kid in school everyone in the house gets it, but if you are sick and really need it you are screwed. I guess it is cheaper to insure healthy people then brag about how many people the state serves.
