ive been offered a part time job at a women's shelter. I had done some volunteer work up there this past summer. The hrs. will be 16 a week. I know im ok with working according to social security, BUT do you know if they will frown on me because the 2 days I will be working are 8 hr. shifts. BUT, this place is awesome, is low keyed and they have a couch, tv area for the office workers and even a bedroom and I would be allowed to rest and even lay down if needed. Im a little scared of it being 8 hrs. but i want to give it a try. Somebody told me social security would not like a person working an 8 hr. shift because then they would think you could work.....??? whats your thoughts? Should I call social security and aske them but explain to them that i have a bed to lay down on due to my fatiuge.

8 hour days may put your disability in danger if you claim that you cannot work 8 hour days without long breaks and rest.

Thats what I thought too. I want to do something so bad. I myself am concerned about an 8 hr. shift, but i would be able to lay down , but i doubt SS would understand that and i surely dont need to jepordize my SS. I was gonna call SS but tried to find out on my own without calling. Thanks for your input.

This is just an opinion and I am not a professional.
I would say do it, if you can.

I don't think that social security would have the time to look into when exactly you put in your hours, as long as they know that you are working only 16 hours a week and making less than the amount they allow monthly ($950 or so).

Had a friend of mine on disability and someone rode by her house and she was on a riding lawn mower and had her disability taken from her. Find out before doing anything!!

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
