I have had MS since April 2011 Filed for disability and turned down got a lawyer now I have Relape @ Remeding, days I feel I can work, who is working out there that has it as long or longer then me and is working, I am wondering if I should try to work again. What r your thoughts?

I wish I could even take off work and call in sick. I worry that they will replace me. I have been DX MS in 2006 with trigeminal neuralgia in my right face. I go to work dragging my left leg. Hopeing my face does not explode on the job. I work 40 hrs a week. I would not be able to support my family. With all the medical bills every month. On social security. This is a scary situation. I work in retail. I wish I did not have to worry so much. I am in the middle of a very long relaspe.

I was dx in jan 2012 and filed for disability in July after my second flare up. I've still been waiting on a decision but have been medically approved NH APTD so far. My issues have made it impossible for me to work, although I searched for work for a long time due to my own ego and thought process about disability. The only correct answer to your question is simple. Only you can decide if you have the ability to work or not. This will boil down to your symptoms and the type of work you have previously done or could do. Whether you should try to work is a very personal answer that will differ from person to person.

I was sick sick sick and put out on a disability (short-term) by my employer. This was only a few months after my diagnosis.

Social Security told me that if I was ever put out on a disability for this illness to FILE IMMEDIATELY for SSDI which is what I did.

I was planning to go back to work as I have a lot of education under my belt and I had not planned for this to happen to me.

I ended up losing the sight in my eye a couple of months after I filed. I was denied SSDI and I had a lawyer who luckily knew people at Social Security and the denial was overturned.

Without SSDI, I'd be out on the street no doubt as there is no way in the world I could still work. As I've aged, this disease, MS, has taken a lot more than it could ever give which is nothing, it just keeps taking more and more, albeit slowly, it still continues to "take" so to speak. :(

Also, if you drop your case and get sick again, you'll have to start all over again. Think carefully before you act is about all I can say.
