What life lesson has MS taught you?
For me, MS has taught me a lot of things...
One BAD life lesson it has taught me:
Everyone will eventually know sickness; everyone will eventually know loss. There is not one person on this earth that will not grow old and die. Rest assured that those who cannot empathize with you will eventually experience what youre going through.
One GOOD life lesson MS has taught me:
You will have good days and bad days. On the good days you will have to learn to maximize your energy and resources without overexerting yourself...on your bad days you will need to learn how to be patient with yourself and let yourself rest to heal...
You'll never be the way you were, but you will eventually adapt to the obstacles you have to encounter. That being said, you will have to learn to be proud of yourself for adapting and overcoming. And that is how you will be able to get through the day each day.

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

The good thing is I've learned to let go, move away from the negative atmosphere, and live life day by day. No stress does wonders for the body!
And I learned from this to aim for a less stressful life.
One Bad life lesson it has taught me:
People can be so damn ignorant !
One Good lesson it has taught me:
No matter how hard the days can be or the MS progression gets, life is still worth living.
* Never take anything at face value
* Always search for alternative solutions
* Get several opinions
* Physicians don't have all the answers
* There's always a better way of doing something
* Stay open to suggestions
* Never give up
* Find value in every day; things for which to be grateful
* Appreciate family and friends
* Be open about needs; not everyone is "intuitive" or can relate to what it's like to have "MS"
Just a few I can think of off the top of my head.
