Share your joys, they multiple; share your sorrows it divides the pain.
Stay cool, do your best to stay stress free.
Find a relaxer (old movies, I pad, reading, puzzles) It helps you escape.
Do not let MS take over your life; as hard as that is to do. You have a life outside of MS.

Yes, love my slow cooker! Baby wipes are a great help to me on days when I wake up and don't have the energy to take a shower......easy and convenient. Also, my grabber thingy to pick items off the floor to save energy. Then my battery charged vacuum that only weighs 4 lbs and does a great job on my hardwood floors and doesn't require near the energy to use vs. a broom and dust pan. My lap top computer, because I can use it as I recline, because I have a hard time sitting up right at a desk.

Then there is my canine companion, whose picture you see. She keeps me company, since I am by myself most of the time. Also, she is on my schedule and likes to sleep late with me and also take naps!

Changing from a compact car to a 4X4 has made getting in and outta my vehicle a breeze. It became a real struggle with my little ride. Now, all I have to do is twist my hips and I'm in. Oh! and I love my recliner that also helps me stand. All at the push of a button.

We took up all the carpets and put down tiles. Vacuuming is sooo difficult but pushing a broom is easier.
Also put a grab rail in the shower and a rail in the loo. How did I live without them even pre MS !

My smart phone. Combines appointment reminders, calendar, to do list, shopping lists, gps, odds and end tools like a calculator, phone and email all into one - so I'm not forgetting/missing things, or carrying around a 20 lb purse to dig through every 5 minutes!

What I have found is what someone else says, share your happiness, and your pain. I am lucky, I have an amazing fiance who is going through all this with me and keeps me in good spirits when it gets rough. If I don't feel well he's right there to help me cook and clean and take care of my two kids. I also have my ex husband, my kids dad who is a best friend to both me and my finance. He was with me when I was dx so he was able to inform my fiance on how this will go and how I react to things. I guess its the support system that has helped me so much and taught me that I am not alone. If I just had my family I would be lost. They are they type that get mad if I am worn down because "what did you do today?, or when they hear I have a neuro appt because I don't have MS if you ask them. The boys I count on so much keep me moving and don't react when I forget things, between the two of them they are on top of everything especially because I forget everything.

1) Wife and kids
2) Walkers and scooters
3) zero turn mower
4) 4 wheelers to get around off the pavement
5) lift to get me in and out of boat
6) drive thru restraunts
7) as stated earlier, full size truck and suv . easier to get in and out of, hauls scooters and walkers and safer to drive because of a better line of visability

next thing in my sight is a modification to the bath/shower unit to make it easier and safer to get in and out of

1) family and boyfriend without them id be homeless and alone
2) my dog lady who is with me 24/7 keeps me company all the time
3) ps3 and wii gives me something to do pass the time
4) bathroom grab bars/ handicapp placard
5) smart phone I can pay bills/ look up info text my friends etc without getting up to the computer...

Anything idk cuz life is f*cking hard...wish list? Ssi, a 4x4 to get in n out easier, an automatic chair thingie to get up/down 3 flights of stairs, more dogs!, moving in an apt without stairs and to be able to work...ugh

4x4 doe not make it easier to get in and out of. A 4x4 is benefcail in snow or ice.

Thanks for all the great responses. It's really wonderful the way so many of us have adapted to this lifestyle. Doesn't mean we like it!

I have to agree with the responses about having support. My (now) partner didn't hesitate when I was dx. His response was ' Move in with me.' He then moved his business to home so he could be around more although it also means he can sleep in most mornings!

I also appreciate my disability parking permit. No more circling the carpark for a space.

I asked this question two years ago when I was first dxd. Here's what people wrote:

Fat pens with grip area.

Magnetic clasps for necklaces.

Oxo Good grips jar openers.

Motion-activated soap dispenser.

Pepperball made by chef'n. You squeeze the ears instead of gripping and turning a jar. Available on ebay.

Athletic-type shoes that have a curved sole, made by Danskin, for $25 at Wal-mart. Sure helps me not trip or scuff my toes with the dropped foot.

Western shirts w/snaps instead of buttons.

As Seen On TV jar opener and/or toothpaste dispenser.

I use flip top water bottles and refill them since they are smaller around for hanging on to since my glass wear is so wide.

Rounded soft edge silverware since anything else feels sharp and hard to hold.

Flip top shampoo and conditioner in smaller containers but think it would be helpful to have auto dispensers in the shower.

I have the kids put the dog out since I cant open the clasp very well.

Coffee cup with a handle large enough to fit my hand so I can hold my coffee.

My husband made a service tray so I could set my coffee on it while resting on couch since sitting in dining chair hurts me.

I am in habit of hanging on to walls now for balance, so maybe you could have a footed cane handy for extra balance in open areas.

Oh, I found the best scissors at Michael's with really big finger holes, and lots of sort of soft rubber padding, and a short blade for easier direction.

This isn't a new gadget, but those tools to extend your grab, work great to get clothes from the dryer.

I hung a small curtain rod from the shelf above my washer & dryer. Works as a great place to store empty hangers, right where I need them to hang clothes straight from the dryer. A folding clothes rack comes out to hang them on until I take them to the closet. Anything to cut down on what I iron!
