So...I just got my LP results (I got them before my Dr so he has yet to tell me what it means) so it looks like there is no evidence of oligoclonal bands (does this mean no MS?) but my IgG index levels were high and so was my Lymphocyte. What the heck does that mean????? I am so confused!!!! its not like I want to have something wrong with me...but I want a name to what ever is ailing me. arg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! any Dr here who nows what these result mean?? I have looked online and the possibilities seem endless.

ilotusflower, I have brain lesions, but no bands show up in my spinal fluid. My neuro said that she has had others do the same. It doesn't mean that you don't have MS. Under the old "McDonald Critia" (googel that)a person had to have lesions on the brain, bands and symptoms in order to get a MS diagnosis, but I understand that I has changed.

Let me know what your doctor tells you since I don't have those bands either.

I didn't have any bands in mine either, Doc says it does not change my diagnosis. I had elevated white cells. Shows your body is fighting something.

Interested to hear your doc's explanation.

I had no bands in 3 LPs, they always said "nothing in my blood either, but lately (11 years after dx) I was told my white blood cell count, was very high, and HAS been for years!

Brain lesions and symptoms were enough for MY Neuro to declare it MS ... I think you just need 2 "major" positive symptoms now (lesions, OGC Bands on a LP/Spinal Tap, and/or multiple common MS symptoms, like ON, numbness, dizziness, depression, balance problems, memory issues, drop foot, etc ...)

Thanks for the responses!!! altho...still feeling confused. I will let u all know what the verdict is...when i find out!!! my Dr has conveniently taken a vacation...doesn't he know I NEED him!!! :)
