I have lost a bunch of hair. I really think for me it is the MS and not just the medicine. I have been on different medicines and without and still the hair is packing its bags and leaving home!!

I have not been on Copaxone before but I have been on Rebif. I had alot of side effects and one was my hair fell out by the handfuls. I knew that was what it was at the time. It took several weeks after quitting Rebif before it stopped. Sorry to have to tell you this.

I agree!!! When I was on Rebif my hair was falling out in bunches. When I stopped, so did the hair loss. I called the Rebif help line and said they have been told this by other people.

Hi, I've had MS 30yrs. & was on everything but Copaxone in the last 7 years, when my MS finally took a turn for the worse. Yes, you're right, the Hair Loss Factor appears and drives you crazy. It wasn't until I started taking Tysabri that I noticed my hair getting better. I still pull out too much with the curling iron , but it seems much better. Of course, I've been on Tysabri 3 years, am 55yrs., & just noticed my hair improvement in the last 6 months. Good luck to you!

It is probably the medications, not the disease, unless you have auto-immune thyroid problems or another medical condition.

Interferons are supposed to make your hair fall out.....I think its the cortico steroids that make your hair grow faster in places you didnt want it....

With the interferon and steroids I noticed my hair thinned a lot. I've been off steroids and the interferon for a year now, and it's growing back in full.

Did anyone notice it on Copaxone? I had only been on Copaxone for 5 yrs when it started so it seems not to be exclusive to the interferon. Has a neurologist offered any ideas? I'll ask mine in 3 weeks. And does anything help? Someone mentioned taking MSM or even Rogaine. But I don't really want to take extra medications. I love the not knowing why its happening it just is.

I was on betaseron for 4 years and have been taking copaxone for about six years now. No noticable hair loss for me.

I seriously wish it would fall off my legs though! :o)

When I was on Rebif I loss huge amounts of hair every day. My bathroom sink was full of the dang stuff all the time, it seemed. I am now on Tysabri & I am still having some hair loss but not as much at all. Just the 'normal' daily dead hair thing I think. I can tell you that since I have been on Tysabri (14 months) my finger nails have grown beyond anything I have ever experienced before. And SO Strong!! I think I could use the thumb nails as screwdrivers!!
It can be amazing what drugs & medical troubles do to each person. Everyone seems to have different stories......

I have very long hair and have always lost a fair bit since the birth of my son- almost 12 years ago but I too have noticed alot more falling out. I too am on Rebif.

Everyday I need to clean the bathroom floor and sink, It drives me loony. I am not having bald spots or anything just loosing alot and getting lots of frizzy little bits from my hair growing back.

Have no idea how to fix it but just think it is one of thoses things with the drugs.

I've been on Copaxone since last August. Consequently, I've been losing my hair since then, too. Don't know if it's the meds or the actual disease, though, so you'll have to draw your own conclusion :)

ANY TYPE OF STEROIDS WILL DO IT TOO...I'VE HERD REBIF CAUSES IT ALSO....

I am on Rebif.. and I notice considerable amounts of hair coming out mainly when I am combing it out after showering.. I found a shampoo and conditioner combo that seem to be helping.. Nioxin is what it's called.. I alternate it with normal shampoo.. but the days I use it I find I am combing out alot less.. I am just trying not to have thinner hair than my balding boyfriend before I am 30.. and I want the peach fuzz I have in the front of my head to grow back.. bad... but the meds seem to be working... so I guess I can deal for now.. if it is because of the meds..

I have been losing alot of hair also ...I think it's related to the disease not meds. Went off Copaxone over 5 yrs ago (couldn't afford it). Currently on other meds incl neurontin, buspar, ditropan. I'm 49 & have had MS about 10 yrs now and the hair loss has occurred all during that time, but esp last 3 yrs has been real bad, over ears, base of neck, but top of head the hair is great. Tried laser therapy for a year, may have helped a bit, but not worth the cost. The hair that grows back is fuzzy like baby hair but grows slow. Use hair extensions (thanks to a friend that's a hairdresser, otherwise it's also expensive) that improve my state of mind. I just want a wig!

I started having hair loss before I knew I had MS. I had all the tests done, hormomes, thyroid, etc. Then I finally was dxd. Now have been on Rebif for four years, and I think that it is about the same. It isn't clumps, but it is just much thinner.
