One pill contains 1000 IU and I am gradually and slowly going to 5000 IU a day, so that my body can gets use to it.
It can reduce inflammation that contributes to MS symptoms. It is also the vitamin, when activated by your kidney, that sends a message to your gut to absorb Calcium [Ca]. This is what is used to send a nerve impulse from one nerve to the next. It is also what is used to allow for myosin to connect with actin....aka muscle movement to happen.
So is D3 going to regrow the myelin? No
If you are low on Calcium it can help increase the calcium and thus will help nerve conduction and muscle movement. This is IF you take fat soluble D with fat and get your HDL numbers up so you can store it.
It is kinda like you have engine problems {myelin in MS} and then you are also low on oil {low Ca}. If you add D3 you are not fixing the engine but you are increasing the oil level which, if not addressed, will contribute to your problems.
Best wishes to you,
EP
*sigh*
Did you bring your FAT numbers UP?
ie Palmitic acid, stearic acid, omega 3, 6 and 9 (aka oleic acid)
The fat is what you need to absorb and store D3, for later use. It is what is needed to make steroids, sex hormones and thyroid hormones (all have been looked at in connection with MS) not to mention the myelin itself which is primarily fat, some protein and B vitamins.
So where is your HDL Fat levels??
