my vision is bad..i get new glasses once a yr that help some..but i get double vision thats caused from optic nueritis...wich also causes blurred vision...docs have talked bout prisms in my glasses but i dont have money for that,,

i forgot...a round of steroids can improve it at times...

When I went to see my Neuro last month, my vision was horrible. When I went to see my eye specialist this week, my vision was 20/40.
How can I ever trust a new prescription when my eyes are never the same twice?

Steroid infusion definitely helped my vision in April.

Now when they are particularly bad, I use a larger font on my computer and read books with bigger print. Seems to help.

I too love to read, but due to my vision I've had to stop reading. I miss it.

I was having the same problem. I also love to read as an escape and a way to relax. Hubby bought me a Kindle for Christmas last year and I love it. You can make the font as big as you need and it makes reading so much easier!!

i have to agree bout the eye exams being different from one to the next...but i would get a script when and if u can get a round of steriods first..and ask bout prisms....also for my double vision,i wear an eye patch over one eye..it helps

Sorry your having this problem on top of everything else, but a kindle is a good choice and they now make a cheaper smaller version, and I've had astigmytism (sp) which makes things blurry by itsself, I also have changed the font size on my computer so the letters are bigger. Merry Christmas

About prisms - you don't have to have them built in to your lenses, which is quite expensive. You can buy some that stick to the inside of your current lenses and the optician will cut them to fit. 10 years ago they cost me $40.

My sister has vision problems (not from MS) and is legally blind, she gets large-print books mailed to her free from the Society for the Blind (that may not be the official name, but I think it's pretty close).

My daughter has eye problems and steroids have helped at her worst, glasses won't help said the eye Dr since her sight changes so often ,usually when she is tired, stressed or hot. She has an EVO phone and makes font very large.

I have been struggling with vision problems & gradually getting worse. Large font on computer etc all help.
I went to the vision Australia & was assessed & was surprised at what can be done to make life easier. I immediately bought a magnifier that I can hang around my neck & it magnifies whatever I am reading or doing. It has a led light in it too which is great to improve contrast. I am also going to get a hand held one that magnifies 4x with a light in it & also a line that I can press a button so that it lights the line to follow easier. I can now read a book again with the neck one.
I am also going to get a machine - similar to the cd player, that plays the audio books. That wont cost me anything & they will send me audio books regular for free & I send them back when I have read them. Looking forward to that too.
It is definately worth investigating what options are out there as I didn't know I could get these either.

Yes, I agree 100% with everyone. Get a Kindle, they are awesome and you can make the font GIANT. The steroids helped me a lot when I had double/quadruple vision for 6 weeks...now I am back to perfect 20/20 and just ONE of everything so it CAN and WILL get better, stay positive!

I have vision problems too, I don't have eye problems, optic neuritis or any reason for it at this time. Both optometrist and opthalmologist said glasses won't help me with my changing sight and double vision. Neuro thinks brain stem or occipital lobe.
Quite frustrating, I need to break down and do something, I haven't been reading much!

The greatest treatment for optic neuritis (blurred vision) is short-term IV steroids. Short-term, like three, four, or five days. And high-dose steroids. This way it bypasses the stomach. It's worked really well for me. And others. I was given three days, out-patient, IV treatment. The blurred vision went away. I've been seeing well for years after the IV treatment. Like you all know, we all want to see!

I have not stopped reading but, I do find that I have alot more trouble now, than I have had in the past. I do think my issues are MS related. I have blurry vision and I sometimes get very blurred letters.
I have dealt with two episodes of ON. But, I am not sure this is that.
Either way, I use a pair of glassed to read, but, when the vision is very hard, I also pull out the magnifying glass. Don't like to, just 'cause it makes me feel very old-granny like. But, it does help me read some!
