Hi, vertigo feels like if you seat on a desk chair and spins you around really fast, when I get it, I sweat, nauseous, vomit, diarrhea, It's the worst!! I don't take anything for it because It's random.

Vertigo is one of my first symptoms of MS and I understand your distain! I absolutely hate it and there is nothing, no meds that I have found that work. I just have to lie down and remain with my eyes closed. Even when I'm sleeping, I will get a huge wave of vertigo that spins me in my sleep and wakes me up. I'm sorry you are feeling this way, and even sorrier that I can't offer you any remedy that works for me to share. Hope this passes quickly. My vertigo usually stays around for weeks, and disappears for a few, then comes back again for weeks,it puts me on my back!

The only thing that I can think of is to try ginger. It is natural & can help with nauseous & vertigo. Husband takes that frequently.
Dont know if you have already tried this or not but can help in preventing too if taken regular & included in food if thats easier.

That was my first symptom too and it drove me crazy! I took pills for seasickness but they just made me feel sleepy. I hope they find something to work soon so you can get off the merry go round.

I've had serious bouts of Vertigo too. My neuro gave me valium for the dizziness and phenergan helps a lot with the nausea.. I like the gel form that you rub on your wrists. Vertigo is the worst. I've delt with it since high school and had it so severely while pregnant, I stayed on my back, couldn't open my eyes and drank from a sippy cup. I'm sorry you're dealing with this but it usually has to just run it's course. I hope the IV meds are helping you.... I agree with the other suggestions.. Ginger snap cooking and Ginger Ale can help..

I've had vertigo for years and I hate it too. It was also one of my first symptoms of ms. The vertigo and dystonia both hit me at the same time. Lately I've been wearing Seabands and have found them to be helpful when my vertigo attacks are just starting. We went on a cruise to Alaska and I was prepared with antivert and phenergan, but wore the Seabands for the whole cruise and didn't have any issues. My neurologist told me that she would prescribe the patch for me, but said that many have withdrawal symptoms and I chose not to go through that. Seabands work well for my daughter and I when we ride in the car also as we are both prone to motion sickness. They also say that many women use them for morning sickness during pregnancy - wish I had known about them then. They work by pressing on accupressure points on your wrists. I ordered them online because I found them at a cheaper price. Although they are sold at local drugstores in the U.S. as well.

There is testing that your neurologist can order for vertigo and dizziness to determine the cause. The testing is generally done by a doctor of audiology. I've had the testing done 3 times. It was during the time that my doctor was trying to diagnose me. All times the results for me stated that the vertigo was caused by my central nervous system and the most likely cause was multiple sclerosis. Although vertigo from ms is usually milder than vertigo from inner ear infections which is generally more violent causing worse nausea and vomiting. However, I think it depends on how sensitive your stomach is. I do get quite nauseated and have fallen and walked into walls. I've also had it so bad that it has woken me from sleep or made me just want to curl up into a ball and die. So I do very much empathize with anyone going through this. There are medications that can help. Call your doctor or go to the hospital if it gets severe. I've been dealing with it for 16 years now. Take care.

when I had my vertigo attack I went to a chiropractor and he did a procedure about 3 times over a week and a half and it got rid of it... it helped alot. I was told a ear/nose and throat specialist would do the same thing...
best part only was on gravol for it no other meds.

Forgot to add that my neurologist has me taking ginger root supplement capsules 3 times a day for vertigo. Seems to be helping me as my vertigo attacks have become less frequent, but I would check with your doctor before starting. It's nice to have the ground stay put when I walk on it. It's tough enough with my shaky ms legs as it is.

The only thing tht I have found to help me at home when I'm feeling this bad is an RX called Phenergan. Helps with the nausea issue. Hope this episode passed quicly as I now how mserable one can feel. Best wishes!

Severe vertigo was the first big symptom of MS for me as well. Even if my eyes are closed and I am lying down the room spins wildly. I am relapsing at the moment and the vertigo is unbearable at times.
I am interested in the use of ginger for it I will research it today..I dont want to take any more meds .I take so many already. My vertigo is worse when it is dark as my eyesight is the only thing that keeps my balance. I tend to fall to the left and cant walk straight . Funny though that i feel better when driving..hmmm
