Hello!

Does anyone know of a support group in Montgomery, Al? The number I received from the National MS Society was incorrect.

Another question...
I have had a series of attacks on my t-spine over the last year. Last April/May I was around 1 on the disability scale, and now I think I'm a 6.5 (my diagnosis, not the neuro's). My last flare up was in december of last year. I can't walk from the car to a store without the aid of my husband or a shopping cart. The heat doesn't help, but I don't think I will be much better when the cooler weather returns. Has anyone been hit so hard so quickly, and recovered? I know everyone is different, but I would like to know if there may be hope.

Also...
Does anyone know of a PT in the Montgomery area who understands MS or neuro conditions?

Sorry I can't help you on your first and last question, but the middle question I can tell you that one day I woke and found my disability about a 6.0. That was 2 years ago, and nothing has changed, through all seasons. In fact, when I'm having a flare, it get's worse. You should still have hope, as everyone is affected differently by this nasty disease.

I would call the MS Society back on the wrong number. They don't want to give it out to anyone else if it is not a working number.

Have you checked with the MS Foundation? They do slot with support groups. I know I have heard a lot of NMSS not being up to date on support group info. I would check on their site at www.msfocus.org

Thanks for your replies. I'm still looking for a support group, but I found a decent PT. I hope all is well.

Don't know anything at all about Montgomery. But when our support group was messed up and not answering the phone, we called the MS Society back and asked again. Usually there are co-chairs, and the first person may be unavailable or sick. So see if there is someone else on the list to call.

As for the attack, I know of several people who were in the hospital and really bad and made a full recovery. So hope for the best. Sometimes we get much better and make a full recovery.

I was practically blind a long time ago and now I have 20/20 vision so if that tells you anything, you CAN get better. Talk to your neuro about it. The weather may have a LOT to do with it. It is in the high 90s here and hits over 100 some days in NC. So I can't imagine what it is doing in Ala.

have hope... the cooler weather really does help! for years, friends have made fun of me b/c i spend the whole year awaiting 20 degree weather and i'm from one of the hot places in tx. when it's really really cold, i feel at my best.

i don't know about the support group in al, but you might try talking to your doc about it. or even better, a nurse. :-) (don't like docs so much)

i am newly dx'ed, and i get your concern about the pt. i don't have a treatment plan in place since i also have celiac, and the doc wants to wait to assess my ms after i heal a bit, but hopefully, your doc can help you there.

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
