A temperature below 95 degrees F. is considered hypothermia. A temperature of 93.3 is considered mild hypothermia. The color change would be due to sluggish circulation. Extremities turn blue first. Getting in a warm shower might help you warm up a little faster. I would definitely make a call tomorrow to make sure this isn't something abnormal and whether or not you should continue taking the Avonex. The information below recommends:

"Emergency medical help should be summoned whenever a person appears hypothermic. The danger signs include intense shivering; stiffness and numbness in the arms and legs; stumbling and clumsiness; sleepiness, confusion, disorientation, amnesia, and irrational behavior; and difficulty speaking."

Thank you Crystal for your reply. I knew that was considered hypothermia. What I didn't know if this was a normal reaction to the Avonex injection as I really had (low temp) this since I been taken a it for 5 years now. I did call Biogen and they reported the side effect which they said is not normal.

I call my doctor's office and they wanted to see me but I have no transportation. I am still have that washed out feeling today as not keeping balance/dizziness since injection. But that could be normal. I don't know anymore.

I do have intense shivering when my body temp drops but I assume that was part of the flu-like symptoms. I don't seem to get everywhere with anyone as my temp is normal for me now. I just noticed that with the Avonex the side effects are getting worse the longer I am on it.

I don't know what I will do if I can't take Avonex. I have site injections problems with it as in rashes, bruising and knots. I can't even wear a band aid on my skin as it cause rash. It took my body twice as long to adjust to Avonex. I can't go through that again on another Crabs.

I take my Avonex on Mon. nights & put an extra blanket on my side of bed, because I will wake for a couple of minutes shivering!

Call Avonex with this symptom. All side effects have to be reported by them to the FDA. That is really important for them to know.

But more important, it is important for you to talk to their nurse and see what they have to say about it. They will tell you what to do. Please talk to Biogen right away.

I hope you get some help. This sounds unusual.

Maybe you're a good candidate for Gillenya? It's not one of the crabs, so you might not have any cold/flu symptoms.

I did a lot of looking around on the internet today because this post stuck in my head yesterday. I can find all kinds of info about Avonex causing a high temp but not a low one. My other thought on this is that heart problems are listed as a side effect. Cyanosis (blue/purple skin color) can be a result of heart problems. I'm glad that you were able to report the side effect but you may still want to call your doctor to find out if it may be a heart related side effect. I think the flu-like symptoms they talk about are the fever, chills, ache, and tired feeling. I've never heard of someone turning blue before.

Thank you all for your replies. I did call Biogen and the side effect was report the the FDA. You right it doesn't say anything about low temp. I talk with my doctor's nurse. I was told three months ago to add to Tylenol to my Ibuprofen to keep me from going into a second of side effects. Well he didn't tell me the dosage and I been taking 2 635mg extend release which can cause hypothermia. I asked my neurologist if I could just increase the Ibuprofen and he said no take the Tylenol. I will get the regular and watch my temp. If it is still low will discontinue Tylenol and do Ibuprofen.

The thing is this has been going on for 5 years. It just got my attention when it read that low. Yes, my body temp always drops low a few hours after injection ( I don't take my temp every time so I don't know how low it gets) and I turn blue (my cue) and then I take more medication so my temp won't go high.
