i use to love tanning indoors and out. i did for years, it's only the last few years that it has become bothersome. i feel very weak afterwards, it's not good for this disease i know but i still enjoy a little sunning at the pool, it feels so good. i drink juices or water and go in and out of the water to keep my body at a cooler temperature.

I enjoyed tanning, until I started taking Rebif, and found that it flared up my injection sites...figured this is probably not a good thing...

I used to do the tanning beds every summer, until they started making me feel weak and nauseous. That's when the little light bulb went off in my head, "Heat is not good for you!". Now I just show my white legs, I figure if I'm still able to use them, doesn't matter what they look like.

I still use the tanning bed occassionally and don't really have any negative things happen as a result of it. I think the heat is what's messing with you.

have you tried like fake bake or sunless tanners
a lot of them look REALLY fake and orange but there are some really good ones that give you a nice natural glow

I agree with the possible dehydration. Also, if you do tanning, be sure it is a full-spectrum tanning bed so that you get the benefit of the vitamin D, which you need for the MS.

sitting in the sun does nothing for my health (ms and cancer-wise)
i was thinking about a spray tan place. it will give me a less neon white look and its more even than trying to self sunless tan at home

i figure doing it just enough to make my legs less pasty will be just fine

Please please please read some of the Australian research etc on tanning. We take our sunshine very seriously here and if any country is in a position to be aware of the risks, we are.Here's one link

mystic tan is AWESOME if you can afford it. It's so even and natural looking and it doesn't streak or flake off or anything...

I live in Perth, Australia and Clare Oliver died recently this year. She was only 26. The news coverage about the tanning salons is widespread.

There are now investigations into the sunbed industry and they are attempting to make them liable for allowing the tanning to continue.

It was so sad to watch Clare in her final months-again wide spread coverage here in Perth.

Her legacy was to reach out to all people about the dangers of this type of tanning. Here in Perth we go for a spray tan if you want to get a tan.

There was another young man who was 33 and died recently from Melanoma. The cancer foundation here used him on there ads. To see him each night tell you that he is dying and then to wake up one morning and to hear he had passed was gut wrenching and touched the Nation.

Please I beg you to look at what has been happening in this country, so that for you or your family members-it will not be too late.

Tanning beds? That would be like paying for a flair up!

if i exposed myself to that heat i would have a symptom flair. please look into other options, it's just not worth it!

Why would anyone WANT to CAUSE DAMAGE to their skin? A tan is your bodies response to damage. It may make you think you'll look better, but also older much faster.
You are just going to provide future in come for your local dermatologist, pathologist, and histology tech. (Spoken from a histo tech who had to make many slides from folks who thought they had to fake bake. To those who think it does any good: thanks for the income.)
