I also am part of another online type as well.
I just sometimes long for "real people" support group type.
No free rides in a group wheter called support or self help. the group provides a safe environment an the indvidual provides the elbow grease...(work)
kind of liker you can lead a horse to water buty you cvan't make him drink.....
a group that takes on the rersponsibilty to fix some will destroy itself & the individual who expects to heal them while they put in no work to make it happen, will never be "healed or made better"
Clarify--I do/did put in the work, addiction for me are just moving targets, i get 1 beaten down then another pops up---thats why it migh Appear that i did not put in any elbow grease--but what ever addiction I'm struggling with now i m ight have onlyh had forf a short time or an old one has exaserbated after a period of remission
I did go to these groups for 3 years or so, found them depressing because I just DIDN'T fit in.
Ya see EVERYONE there ALREADY had a well planned for life BEFORE MS came in and smashed their dreams/ plans for their RETIREMENT NOT their entire future!
The people in them were at LEAST in their 40s, married/ devorced married AGAIN, HAD KIDS, houses AND JOBS that they talked about ways to make life easier for them and their family and how to drive easier here in Maine during the winter months besides deal with an MS diagnosies.
Me not yet having a drivers liscence, a single date, hopes to even bring children into this miserable world already; just didn't like having to smile and act like I didn't have dreams of suicide for myself towards people who might use a cane to help them walk but were STILL HAPPY TO BE ALIVE!
