I'm responding because I have similar symptoms. Mr chest feels heavy and I can't get enough air! It is like I have a belt around the bottom of my rib cage. I'm having an LP on Monday to help with an MS dx. When I lay down I seem to have more trouble breathing. My neurologist sent me home with a little machine that has a lead that clamps on the finger. The nurse called me later that day and told me to sleep in a recliner because I had really bad sleep apnea, stop breathing. I have heavy numbness around the bottom of my ribs.
Have you had any testing done? I'm concerned you may have the same thing going on. Take care.
Kevin
I will call and leave a message for my doctor.
Thanks again ezone.
So far I have had an MRI that relieved multiple white spots. I have not mentioned the breathing problems to me doctor yet because I have so many symptoms going I that I don't want to sound like a hypochondriac.
I have also had a sleep study done. It showed that I do not have sleep apnea, but rather something called "Respiratory Related Sleep Arousal." I stop breathing for a time, and then start again with a gasp." This does disturb my sleep, but I do not snore as a result of it.
Kevin, at times to you also get palpitations, and sometimes sudden pinching pains in your heart?
I am scheduled to have a heart monitor on for 24 hours next month, but, you know how it is, I fear that the heart symptoms will not be present when I get the monitor on.
I find myself having to gasp of air throughout the day too. That has been happening for a while though. I mentioned it to a doctor and he said people who are depressed to that a lot.
Anyways, thanks for your concern Kevin. I will leave a message for my doctor. I hope things get better for you as well.
It is too bad that you are afraid to sound like a hypochondriac but I share the feeling. most doctors feel that way about us.
I have occasionally had some Sharp feelings in the heart area, blame it on my back problems though.
I know that depression can cause a lot of symptoms but it seems lazy or unconcerned to just sort of blow it off like that. I have been to a lot of doctors and most seem to do that sort of thing. I think their arrogance gets in the way and they have forgotten the oath they took and what it actually means.
I have the same breathing/sleeping problem you have going on but my symptoms don't seem to be as bad as yours. I hope your doctor take you seriously because it is a serious problem!
I wish you the best and I hope you get the answers you are looking for.
Sincerely,
rsimmons
