Since I'm starting tecfidera soon, I thought it'd be a good idea to let my boss know what's up and that the side effects might be noticeable and/or I may need to take more sick time than I normally have. I was diagnosed in 2007 and the company I worked for then pretty much fired me for it ( I can't prove that, but it seemed obvious to me and an attorney I talked to about it.) So I was really nervous. I've worked here for 3 years now and felt kind of bad for waiting so long to share this info. ( My company is really good about hiring people with disabilities, so it was more of a personal decision for me to not disclose esp with the bad experience at my previous employer)

Anyway, I couldn't believe how awesome my boss was about it! I turned into a blubbering idiot when I started the conversation (why does this stupid disease still make me cry after 7 years?!!), but she just kept saying 'its ok, keep going." In the end, the thing she said that I will never forget-- " I am so much more impressed with you and the quality of your work knowing this."

I can't tell you how relieved I feel after making my disclosure! I know it's an individual and deeply personal decision, but if you're on the fence about disclosing jst know that you might be pleasantly surprised by the outcome.(I.e., not everyone is an asshole!) Its definitely one less thing for me to stress about!
