Huggers,
Summer
At first I thought it was because of all the accidents I got myself into when I was younger.... Rollerskating, football with the neighborhood boys, etc...... I was a tough active kid... a tomboy so to speak... I held my own! and paid the price a couple times! lol
So back in 06, before MS I tore a ligament in my left shoulder by opening a door.... A flippin door! I didn't do anything stupid, I opened a door and the wind took it and took my arm and shoulder with it.
When I first started having shoulder issues again, I noticed that it hurt in the same spot that it hurt back in 06. Thinking further about it.... All of the ligaments of my body that I have injured throughout my life, knee, ankle, wrist, shoulder... Have all pretty much started hurting again with MS for basically no good reason!
I am getting old before my time! lol
After having cortisone injections that worked briefly I went and saw a sports medicine doctor.
On my visits he would draw blood from my left arm and then inject it back into my right sore elbow and within 4 months of going to him I no longer have any pain. He was saying that it could have taken 6 months to a year to heal-apparantly it is worse than a broken bone as tendons take longer to heal.
This was about 3 years ago and I still have no pain.
I just thought that I may mention it as sometimes we think something may be to do with our MS but is a completely different problem.
Maybe see if your doc can give you and ultrasound and refer you to someone in the sports medicine field.
Good luck and I hope you find a solution to your pain

Finally when the MRI scan was invented, I had an MRI done of my left shoulder. Findings were;
1. complete tear rotator cuff
2. arthritis
3. joint abnormalities
4. ruptured tendon
No wonder it hurts huh? Too late for surgery by the time DX'd I was told.
I used to ride a bicycle to work and swim every day. It was around this time that the pain began.
I think it is related to the MS as the skin is numb at times and also I have times that it itches (the skin) like crazy.
I remember going to a shoulder specialist (one of probably 50 over the years) and he said that I was crazy and that it was not possible to have pain and numbness and itching all at once.
That sounds like MS doesn't it?
Why does it seem that many that have MS find out later on that they have rotator cuff tears? Weird!!
