I get those often from Shared Solutions. One of the doctors from the Clinic I go to is always the speaker- they must pay him a ton to do those speaches ! I've never attended one although a few times I wanted to go. The first time I called to RSVP, they told me they were already booked ! what? I just got it in the mail.. kinda pissed me off !
I was warned that it can be depressing at those events b/c so many people are in wheelchairs, using walking aids and such.. none of that would bother me as I understand we're all at differ points in this disease and it changes daily. So if you're wanting to connect with others, I say go for it !!! But make your reservation quick by calling the 800 number on the mail out !

I attend maybe two or three of these dinner/lecures lunch/lectures each year. I say GO!!! The food is always fantastic and it is FREE! The lectures are put on by medical experts (usually a neuro) covering different MS subects, from the latest and greatest drugs, the latest research, to delaing with things like depression. They allow you to being guests to these events, so take a spouse or a friend with you. I have been going alone, but I always meet new people in my area that also have MS.

I messed up. the dinner, luncheon / lectures I go to are put on by the MSAA, not Shared Solutions. Still, I have to believe that the ones put on by Shared Solutions are just as good as the ones put on by the MSAA. To see what MSAA dinner/lectures are in your area, here's their web site:

I agree with Bobby. Go and enjoy. This is a chance to hear and speak to other people with MS face to face. I have been to several but not sponsor by Shared Solutions. I am sure they are about the same. Like Stacey said make your reservations quick before they are full.

Biogen Idec sponsors many in my area, I go to all, free good food, gifts, raffles, know new people, hear the latest, all fun,, I usually travel in a combo, once I took eight people, I make reservations as soon as it's posted, if I can't go I cancel. I love those activities, I see people in all stages and they share their experiences, dr stories, very uplifting even when you hear sad stories.

Me and my wife went to one put on by whoever does the TY. The dinner was great. My wife was mad because they said it was a event to learn about MS and ways to cope and that part did'nt quite happen. I hope if another chance comes she will go. I think I would rather her go to the local Group meeting, but than again I would love for her to just go to a neuro appt. I say go and enjoy
