I learned a valuable lesson this past week and I like to pass this on to anyone who might be as "naive" as myself. I tend to get really caught up and eager when "meeting" new folks and I recently discovered the IM function on this group and have had several REALLY wonderful and informative exchanges. Well, one person I was chatting with asked me for my personal email address. I didn't think too much about it. (Duh! I know don't say it!) Not terribly long after, I started getting irratic, if not abusive messages from this person. I'm just sending this thread to serve as a reminder that DS is suppose to be AND should remain an anonymous forum for us to discuss and trade info and vent when necessary and to just have "FUN"....a word to the wise...

That's really smart, Rhonda, you gotta be wise on the internet always. I have exchanged e-mails and other info with my DS friends here, but they are people that I have interacted with regularly for some time. It takes quite a bit of time before I'll let that info out.

I am horrified that you had that experience and hope that there is no danger to you, hon.

Ugh. That is really awful Rhonda. How could someone even think of doing that, especially by way of an online support group...for people that are ill?!!

You guys are absolutely "spot on" as they say across the pond. This chick has some mental health issues, which I discovered a little too late. Hell, we ALL have "some" kinda mental health somethin', I'm hoping if I just ignore her, she move on to the next sap who's dumb enough to be manipulated....Crazy does not = stupid, she'll sucker someone else.

Rhonda, maybe you should consider reporting this to DS. Even though the person sent you threatening e-mails outside of the DS network, it might still be worth it to alert them and give them her DS name.

thanks for the warning,i probably am way too overcautious about everything,but i'd rather be safe than sorry.
