i've decided to forego church until flu season is over, just because of the immune system being weak. I commute to college, and am honestly worried that i'll get kicked out if i don't go to church on sundays, i'm from a verrry catholic family. i work after school, but if i moved out, i'd have to take a loan, and i don't want to be in debt after college, because who knows how expensive medicine will be then.
i've only gotten sick once this winter, which is like a miracle. i usually am sick constantly in the winter. i feel like i made a really good choice, but feel guilty and worried since i'm not going.
lol maybe just venting, but i really don't know what to do because if anything is threatened, i'll obviously go, and then get sick, and i can't miss class.
i also have asthma and a cough turns into pneumonia almost overnight, and i think upper respiratory infections can make it easier to have a relapse. it's unfortunate, because the easiest thing is just not to go, but i don't know if that will be an option soon. i'm already starting to get crap for not going, it's only been a few weeks so i don't think they'll be okay with the whole winter.

Usually I get a daily influx of emails on health topics. An article from Dr. Mercola really stood out recently though because it mentioned that fat cells have their own mitochondria. Not only was this the first I'd heard of this, he also mentioned that fat serves a purpose in our metabolism. Another new factoid for me. The bottom line for me was to appreciate that even our fat cells play a...

I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital. I don't think that we will have her much longer. She is very frail. Now she needs help eating. So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying. I think crying releases toxins into my body. I also worked up a sweat at the gym...

You should have no problem if you wear a mask to activities. People that have transplants do and thats ok, you get to satisfy both needs. Buy the good ones, disposable. I have the same issue, I hear someone sneeze and I get goose bumps and feel like running away.

Watch door handles, and public things like water fountains, public sinks, and so forth.
Best advice is NEVER touch your face unless you are washing it. 99% of the stuff we pick up is thru touching our own faces after touching an infected object. It was the hardest lesson to learn in nursing school but the one that served me best. I worked 20 years in prison and not once did I have the flu.
STay safe!
I honestly feel that going in to see a doctor is likely the worst place to be, as that is when people are at their worst, and that is when you shouldn't be breathing their germs! But, grocery stores, churches, everywhere people are, can be danger zones! Just be careful! And, yes, don't "touch" your own face after touching things like doorknobs and faucet handles!!
Be wise!
I really like going to church... I just don't always feel like the walking or taking the time from studies. I'm in the church choir too but they too are understanding that it's when I can make it... no pressure.
Church?Being worse than school and public transportation, confuses me. But to each there own.
I carry the hand wash and us it instead of washing my hands at public places, and after using public shopping carts door knobs.
I learned to do all this things while in chemo treatments.
Best of luck.
The people posted above have good suggestions. So sorry about your dilemma.
