Questions for anytone with thyroid problems
brianap
I am wondering if I have thyroid problems. My blood tests have always come back ok or a little on the low side. I read some stories where the person's blood work did not show any issues, but a scan did. Thinking back- about 2 yrs ago- I had some irregular cycles for a couple months and my hair started falling out. Hair is still falling out, cycles are roughly normal. No one has been able to explain the hair loss. The past few weeks I feel like there is a lump in my throat when I swallow. ITs hard to tell if there is a lump, or maybe that side of my throat is numb? I've always been thin and can't gain weight, unless I'm pregnant. I read somewhere Rebif, which I am currently on, may cause thyroid issues. But I was on Copaxone at the time the hair started falling out. Just wondering what people's levels on blood work were and what symptoms you can attribute to thyroid issues vs. MS. Also, if you have an MRI of the neck would the dr be able to nitice anything wrong. I dont' feel, see a lump, but I"m not entirely sure what I'm looking for. Thanks for any help. Its hard to know what you have to put up with and what you might be able to change. But if I don't have to live with some of the symptoms I"d rather not. Also, has anyone had their iodine tested and/or taken any supplements?

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
Skin thickening
Loss of hair
Slow pulse
Slow mentality
Constipation
Fatigue
A goitre can be present, but not always obvious. A Dr can feel if the thyroid gland is swollen. I think an MRI scan would show any problems as it's a 3D image, but nto entirely sure about that.
My thyroid levels were checked after my right eyeball began protruding, but as it was only the one eyeball the Dr was unsure, it's usually both eyeballs that protrude. This is oneof the last symptoms of hyperthyroidism. If your thyroxine levels are coming back a little on the low side, then I'd ask the Dr to do more tests to be sure that there isn't a problem.

You should see an endocrinologist --they're best equipped to do an array of thyroid tests.
The "normal" range of TSH, T3 & T4 has changed recently; plus many docs don't take thyroid issues seriously.
So see a specialist.
